Activities at Marriott House and Lodge Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Sweet-Toothed Residents Enjoy World Chocolate Day

Sweet-Toothed Residents Enjoy World Chocolate Day

Residents at Marriott House and Lodge in Chichester revelled in all things sweet this World Chocolate Day with a range of chocolaty activities.

On Thursday 7th July, residents, visitors and staff joined together for an afternoon of chocolate tasting. The afternoon included a chocolate fountain, which everyone enjoyed dipping marshmallows and strawberries in. A variety of chocolate was on offer, including dark, milk, white, mint and many other flavours and varieties.

Birthday Tea Celebrations

Birthday Tea Celebrations

This month’s Birthday Tea Afternoon was on Friday 15th July. This is held monthly to celebrate any resident’s birthdays that fall during the month. A special quiz afternoon, along with refreshments and, of course, birthday cake, was requested by the residents, so a themed afternoon was provided by the Activities Team.

Summer Fete

Summer Fete

Staff and residents are in full swing getting ready for our forthcoming Summer Fete on Saturday 23rd July 2016. They have been busy making craft items for visitors to see on the day. Our poetry group has also been busy making final tweaks to the poetry books that they have been creating, which are to be sold on the day.

As part of this week's poetry/creative writing session, this special poem was written:

Marriott Summer Fete

Welcome to our Summer Fete,
Please make sure you're not running late!
We have lots of things for you to see,
to leave you feeling care free.
Try your hands at hook-the-duck,
who knows, it might bring you luck.
And whist you're here, you better try some cake,
or some crafts for you to make.
We will be here, come rain or shine,
to make the day dandy and fine.
So why don't you come and see
how scrummy The Marriotts can be?

Trip to Bishop Palace Gardens

We are so lucky to have Bishop Palace Gardens and the cathedral on our door step. Residents very much enjoy having a picnic on the green!
