Meet the Marriott House and Lodge Care Home Team

Hi, my name is Sarah and I am delighted to be leading the team as the General Manager here at Marriott House & Lodge Care Home.

I have worked within the care sector since 1991 and I am very passionate about my role and responsibilities. Right from the beginning, I knew that this was where I belonged.

My career began as a Care Assistant in a small independent residential home, and I worked my way up to Senior and then Deputy Manager. After spending 26 years in this one home, I decided it was time to spread my wings and was lucky enough to be offered a Deputy Manager position in a much larger residential home for a growing company. It was only a matter of weeks before I was promoted to General Manager and I devoted the next 15 months to improving the home and leading and developing the team.

I joined Barchester Healthcare Ltd in July 2018 as a General Manager and I really enjoyed getting to know the company, my home, my staff team, the residents, their families and friends. I spent just over two years in one home as the General Manager receiving an outstanding Kloe in Caring and Good in the other four kloes in their CQC inspection before transferring to commission a new build in November 2020.

Whilst within the company I have also supported other homes in the absence of a General Manager and inducted and supported new build General Managers with the commissioning of their homes.

I have experience in turn-around projects and commissioning and over the years, I have completed an array of training and qualifications in Health and Social Care, and I continually look for ways I can improve my knowledge, skills and my own personal development.

I am very proud of everything I have achieved and I feel honoured to have spent my entire career doing what I love the most. I feel that there is nothing more rewarding than going home at the end of the day knowing you have made a difference to an individuals life.

With the team at Marriott House & Lodge I aim to ensure that we deliver a high standard of person-centred care to those we support, placing them at the heart of everything we do and meeting individual needs with the passion and commitment they deserve.
