Activities at Marriott House and Lodge Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Life at Marriott House and Lodge Care Home

Barchy's Breakfast

Barchy's Breakfast

Following the success of the Barchy's Big Breakfast during Foundation week, the residents requested that it should be a regular event. Barchy's Breakfast now takes place on the 3rd Wednesday of the month.

The kitchen whipped up a storm of a breakfast, which included croissants, bacon and sausage baps; staff and residents joined together to devour this tasty feast.

Cheese & Port Afternoon

Cheese & Port Afternoon

On Tuesday 16th August, Marriott House and Lodge residents enjoyed a cheese and port afternoon. The activities staff visited all the communal areas as well as every resident's room with trays of different biscuits, cheeses and, of course, a traditional glass of port. This was very much enjoyed by all who joined them!

Creative Talks: On This Day - 20th July 1969

Creative Talks: On This Day - 20th July 1969

Penny, from Creative Talks, visited the home on Thursday 4th August and gave another amazing talk entitled 'On This Day - 20th July 1969'. This talk included a look at what we ate and drank, and how we lived and laughed in 1969.

Everyone was transported through time using interactive pictures, videos and music! The talk provoked lots of discussion and reminiscence.

The next talk will be on Thursday 15th September at 11:00am, entitled 'A Journey Down Under'. This talk takes a look at the sights, sounds and wildlife of Australia, and is an appreciation of Australian music, sport and famous personalities.

Smiles All Round on Friendship Day

Smiles All Round on Friendship Day

We Celebrated Friendship Day on August 9th with a special volunteer recognition coffee morning. There were smiles all round as staff, residents and family members were reminded of the importance of friends and how they can enrich your life. Volunteers are very much a part of the home and residents were keen to thank all the volunteers for their continued friendship and dedication to the home through the activities and services they provide on a regular basis.
