Activities at Forest Hill Care Home

We are a team of four activity organisers here at Forest Hill. We have a wide range of activities within the home including: musical entertainment, Arts & Crafts, Clubs for like minded people such as flower arranging and gardening, board games, baking (where the best bit is the eating afterwards!), and we celebrate special events throughout the year, such Easter, Mothers Day & Fathers Day and Christmas. We also have trips out on a regular basis using our own minibus, where we find out places of interest each person would like to visit. One of our more popular trips is to the local ice cream farm. We recently fulfilled one of our ladies dreams to visit the Chelsea Flower Show, something she had always wanted to do.

For our ladies and gentlemen who are nursed in bed, we have one to one times, which may be hand or foot massage or reading, & listening to music. We encourage families to get as involved as they can with activities and outings and have recently created a Terrace Cafe area, where visiting families can take their loved one for tea & biscuits and spend valuable time together.

Long Service Award

Long Service Award

Congratulations to Activities Coordinator, Sue Bestwick, who recently received her Long Service Award for working at Barchester for 20 years. She was extremely pleased and a little overwhelmed. We're so pleased that she has stayed with us for the last 20 years – we're very lucky to have her.

Long Service Award

Congratulations to our Activities Coordinator, Mags Parkes, who was presented with her Long Service Award by two residents. As you can see from the photos, she was surprised and very pleased to receive the recognition and the vouchers. We’re very proud of her and all that she has done for us here at Forest Hill.

Backyard BBQ

We had such a lovely time at our BBQ recently. Residents thoroughly enjoyed the long-awaited sunshine. Later in the afternoon, we were joined by Lost Chord, who rounded off the day with some fantastic music. Thank you to our wonderful activities team and our Maintenance Manager, Ian, for helping us to arrange such a delicious lunch for everyone.

Congratulations to John Whitehouse, who is our Employee of the Month for April. He received 5 nominations from his colleagues and is a very deserving winner. Staff have stated that he is “reliable, really hard working and so kind to all the residents and staff members."  What an accolade – well done, John!

Employee of the Month - March

Employee of the Month - March

Well done to Ian Kettleborough, who was named as our Employee of the Month for March. He was nominated by over 14 employees for his dedication to getting members of staff to and from work in the heavy snowfall here in Worksop. He worked extra hours to make sure residents received the great care they were used to, despite the horrendous weather.
