Activities at Forest Hill Care Home

We are a team of four activity organisers here at Forest Hill. We have a wide range of activities within the home including: musical entertainment, Arts & Crafts, Clubs for like minded people such as flower arranging and gardening, board games, baking (where the best bit is the eating afterwards!), and we celebrate special events throughout the year, such Easter, Mothers Day & Fathers Day and Christmas. We also have trips out on a regular basis using our own minibus, where we find out places of interest each person would like to visit. One of our more popular trips is to the local ice cream farm. We recently fulfilled one of our ladies dreams to visit the Chelsea Flower Show, something she had always wanted to do.

For our ladies and gentlemen who are nursed in bed, we have one to one times, which may be hand or foot massage or reading, & listening to music. We encourage families to get as involved as they can with activities and outings and have recently created a Terrace Cafe area, where visiting families can take their loved one for tea & biscuits and spend valuable time together.

Life at Forest Hill Care Home

Employee of the Month - February

Employee of the Month - February

Amanda Wilson is the proud winner of February’s Employee of the Month here at Forest Hill. She was so pleased to be nominated by her colleagues for her "kind, caring, compassionate, considerate and hard-working nature."  She truly embraces and embodies the Barchester values and makes such a difference to the lives of all of those who live with us at Forest Hill. Well done, Amanda!

Adopt a Granny

Adopt a Granny

This picture is of Imogen who was really keen to visit our care home to ‘adopt a granny’. She’s spent lots of time with the residents, who absolutely love her! She stops by every week to read to them and spend some quality time with them. She really raised a smile and we are so proud to have her visit us – she makes such a difference to the residents' well-being.

Employee of the Month - January

Employee of the Month - January

Nicoleta is very proud to be our first Employee of the Month for 2018. She was a little overwhelmed, as she doesn’t like “standing out from the crowd."  She was thrilled to be nominated by her colleagues, who stated that she was “a brilliant nurse, a great team member and a lovely person."  She is really valued by all the team here at Forest Hill and is so positive and professional in her attitude. Well done, Nicoleta!

Nativity!

Nativity!

Our local primary school were kind enough to visit us yesterday to perform their school nativity play – and residents and relatives absolutely loved it! There were smiles and singing all round. The children said that they had a great time and would come and visit us again in the new year.

We are now rated 'Outstanding'

We are delighted to announce that, following an inspection by the CQC on 15th & 17th August 2017, we have officially been rated as 'Outstanding' in a report that was published on 21st November 2017.

We received an 'Outstanding' in two of the five CQC categories – Caring and Responsive – and a 'Good' in Safe, Effective and Well-led.

We celebrated our new rating with Chief Operating Officer, Adrian Pancott, who visited our home to present staff with vouchers as a way of congratulating us.

Employee of the Month - December

Employee of the Month - December

Our Employee of the Month for December is Helen Moss. She got very emotional when she was informed that she had been nominated by her colleagues for being extremely kind and caring. Helen always goes the extra mile for residents and even entertains them by playing the piano at lunch time in the dining room.
