Moving a loved one into a care home is one of the hardest decisions a family can make. The reality is that no care home will ever truly feel the same as having your loved one at home with you, and nothing completely takes away that sense of loss or change.
That said, Forest Hill Care Home has become the “second best” that every family hopes for when home is no longer possible. My dad has been a resident there for over a year now, and we feel very lucky to have such a caring place so close to us in Worksop.
The staff, in every department, from House keeping to the carers, work incredibly hard and have always treated my dad with kindness, dignity and patience. They also listen, help and support my mum who visits my dad every day, and that means a lot to us as a family.
Care homes can never replace home, and I don't think the 'perfect one' exists, but Forest Hill has helped make a very difficult situation much easier for our family, and for that we are genuinely grateful.

"From being welcomed by the admin staff to view the home the assessment by the general manager, and preparing a room for mum to move into, the whole process was made easier by the care, compassion and helpful assistance by all the staff. Since mum moved in, everyone from the chef, handyman, housekeeping (special mention) to nurses & carers she has been made to feel safe and comfortable. All the staff show a high level of experience with dementia care - and have great pride in the work - well done!"

Can’t speak highly enough of the care and professionalism shown so far. After making the decision to move my mother in law from a care home where we feared for her safety, we have been given so much support from this team to help us with the difficult move. The manager Georgina has been so friendly and empathetic and had many discussions with our family to put our fears at rest. We have been able to visit on numerous occasions and met many of the lovely staff from the nurses to the chef, carers and care practitioners who have all taken time to actively come and talk to us and answer our questions and have obviously read up on the care plans as they know all the details in advance. It’s also good to see that the residents look so relaxed and get on so well with the staff. It was a difficult decision to move our mum with the condition that she has but thank you for making this time so much easier for us.

"All the team within the home are fantastic. My mum has come on leaps and bounds since becoming a resident. She enjoys all the activities that are held both on site and also the visits out. Mum recently went out to a farm. The carers sent me a video of my mum having a cuppa and a scone. The smile from my mum said it all. Highly recommended."

"Mum was moved here 3 weeks ago. She has previously been a resident at 2 other care homes. As a family we are so happy with the care mum is receiving. All the staff from admin, reception, manager, carers, nurses and the catering manager have ensured mum is welcomed and look after fantastically. The activities team are brilliant and mum has even but out on a trip. Communication between the team appears excellent."

"Fab staff, they cant do enough for the residents and family members. The food choices and standards are excellent. The units are always clean to a high standard, if you require anything for the bedrooms they sort it, from heaters to putting up pictures. The grounds are well kept with enclosed garden areas. There is lots of daily activities, BBQ's, Christmas Fayres, live music, hair salon, foot care."

"The carers at Forest Hill range from the very good to the excellent and there are many of these! There is a real family atmosphere here with all staff - domestic, kitchen, maintenance, reception etc. contributing. One-to-one relationships with all residents are both genuine and realistic. Within their busy schedules all staff, find time for residents and family/visitors. My wife loves the food and really enjoys the regular animal visits. Forest Hill is now her home. P.S. Of the many excellent carers some are outstanding."

"My mother-in-law, who has Alzheimer's, has been a resident for two years now and we are extremely happy with the care offered. The staff are very professional and will work with you if you have any ideas to help the residents live a comfortable safe life. The nursing home doesn't smell of that usual nursing home smell that normally blows your head off like you would see in different establishments in the Worksop area. We took time looking around different nursing homes but instantly fell in love with Barchester Forest Hill Care Home! We based our decisions on would we live here if we had to and it was a massive yes. We can definitely relax at home knowing our family member is safe and well cared for."
