I have worked in the care sector for over 10 years. I started as a care assistant at the age of 18, working in both a community and a care home setting. I went to university at the age of 20 to study Adult Nursing at Birmingham City University, where I graduated with a distinction. Alongside my training, I worked at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital as a bank care assistant on numerous wards, gaining experience in multiple areas.
I did my final year of university in ITU, oncology and palliative care. Once qualifying, I moved back home to Nottinghamshire and did the Preceptorship Program with the NHS at Bassetlaw Hospital in Trauma and Orthopaedics, working closely with the elderly and frail.
I have worked for Barchester since 2013. I joined as a Bank Nurse at our sister home, Lancaster Grange, working nights alongside my NHS job, before joining on a permanent basis in 2015. I was promoted to Senior Nurse in 2017. In May 2018, I transferred to Tennyson Wharf as a Clinical Lead Nurse, and became the Deputy Manager in July 2018.
