Activities at Forest Hill Care Home

We are a team of four activity organisers here at Forest Hill. We have a wide range of activities within the home including: musical entertainment, Arts & Crafts, Clubs for like minded people such as flower arranging and gardening, board games, baking (where the best bit is the eating afterwards!), and we celebrate special events throughout the year, such Easter, Mothers Day & Fathers Day and Christmas. We also have trips out on a regular basis using our own minibus, where we find out places of interest each person would like to visit. One of our more popular trips is to the local ice cream farm. We recently fulfilled one of our ladies dreams to visit the Chelsea Flower Show, something she had always wanted to do.

For our ladies and gentlemen who are nursed in bed, we have one to one times, which may be hand or foot massage or reading, & listening to music. We encourage families to get as involved as they can with activities and outings and have recently created a Terrace Cafe area, where visiting families can take their loved one for tea & biscuits and spend valuable time together.

The Lost Chord

We had the amazing ‘Lost Chord’ here at Forest Hill recently. They are a group of singers and musicians who specialise in ‘dementia-friendly’ performances. Residents absolutely loved the show and it really put some smiles on faces. Staff members also joined in with the frivolities and dancing!

Coffee & Cake

Coffee & Cake

We enjoyed an impromptu coffee and cake afternoon on 14th November. Residents had a lovely time and really liked sampling all the different cream cakes.

Employee of the Month - November

Employee of the Month - November

Head of Housekeeping, Lizzie Dubois, was overwhelmed to be named November's Employee of the Month here at Forest Hill. Nothing is ever too much trouble for Lizzie and she goes the extra mile to help out residents and staff members however she can.

Unsung Hero

Unsung Hero

We are so proud of Sue Bestwick (Activities Coordinator) here at Forest Hill; she was nominated by General Manager, Lizzie Dodd, for the ‘Unsung Hero’ award at our local Tissue Viability’s annual awards ceremony. Sue was nominated as she always goes the extra mile for residents and nothing is too much trouble. She leads by example and understands the needs of residents perfectly.  She enriches their lives every day through the use of therapeutic activity and person-centred interactions.

Sue attended the awards ceremony on Friday 22nd September and she was announced as the winner; she was over the moon and several tears were shed! We are all very proud of her achievement – well done, Sue!

Employee of the Month - August

Employee of the Month - August

Congratulations to Nurse, Zoe Henson, who was named as Forest Hill's Employee of the Month for March.

Zoe was nominated by six of her colleagues, who were all in agreement that she is a great role model and that she always acts in the best interests of residents, going the extra mile to ensure their happiness and well-being.

Impromptu Garden Party

Impromptu Garden Party

The weather has been so terrible lately, so we’ve not been able to spend much time outside. As soon as the sun came back out, we took the opportunity to take some of our gentleman into the gardens for morning tea and biscuits. They really enjoyed the experience with Sue Bestwick, our Activities Coordinator.
