Activities at Forest Hill Care Home

We are a team of four activity organisers here at Forest Hill. We have a wide range of activities within the home including: musical entertainment, Arts & Crafts, Clubs for like minded people such as flower arranging and gardening, board games, baking (where the best bit is the eating afterwards!), and we celebrate special events throughout the year, such Easter, Mothers Day & Fathers Day and Christmas. We also have trips out on a regular basis using our own minibus, where we find out places of interest each person would like to visit. One of our more popular trips is to the local ice cream farm. We recently fulfilled one of our ladies dreams to visit the Chelsea Flower Show, something she had always wanted to do.

For our ladies and gentlemen who are nursed in bed, we have one to one times, which may be hand or foot massage or reading, & listening to music. We encourage families to get as involved as they can with activities and outings and have recently created a Terrace Cafe area, where visiting families can take their loved one for tea & biscuits and spend valuable time together.

Life at Forest Hill Care Home

,

Valentine's Day

We were joined by a brilliant singer, who entertained us for over an hour. We were also visited by our friends at Edlington Community Organisation, who were awarded £500 for their project to help reduce loneliness in the community. We presented them with a cheque and we were honoured that they could be with us on the day.

We also released some balloons that contained written messages from residents to their loved ones, and watched as they floated up into the sky. It was lovely way to celebrate with all our residents and their loved ones!

Birthday Fun

Birthday Fun

Resident, Steven, shared his birthday with us recently. He had a great day and was really overwhelmed with his cake. Everyone loved sharing his special day with him!

Lost Chord Returns

Lost Chord Returns

Lost Chord visited us here at Forest Hill, and even our Maintenance Manager, Ian, got involved when a resident asked him to dance. They put on an absolutely brilliant performance and everyone had a lot of fun!

Bowling Evening

Bowling Evening

Our staff took some residents bowling and they absolutely loved the experience! It was a resident’s request; they had always wanted to go. The resident had invited others to join them and everyone had a great time. We finished the evening by taking them to McDonald's for a burger and to unwind after their busy evening.

Pub Outing

Pub Outing

Residents enjoyed a drink when we went out for a meal at our local pub. This was something that they really wanted to do and they had a great time – cheers!

Forest Hill does Christmas!

Forest Hill does Christmas!

We had the most fabulous entertainer, Ami Evans, come to Forest Hill to get us all in the festive spirit!  She sang songs from all eras and all our Christmas favourites.  Ami is also a singer for Jane MacDonald – so we felt very privileged she was here at Forest Hill!  She even took the time to personally wish every resident a Merry Christmas….it was a lovely touch.
