Activities at The Wingfield Care Home

Here at The Wingfield our activities team provide a varied and interesting range of activities for all residents. We are registered with the National Activity Providers Association (NAPA) and we take pride in delivering activities that will enhance residents lives and bring happiness and a sense of purpose. Our cooking activities are very popular, as well as the regular book clubs, coffee mornings, skittle matches and bus trips. We provide one to one support for those who are unable to attend activities and we have tea dances, musicians, quizzes, music and movement, as well as our giant scrabble board! But most importantly we have fun! Relatives are always welcome and there is always much laughter and smiling faces during our activities. We take pride in what we do and we continually strive to enhance residents lives through meaningful activity.

Life at The Wingfield Care Home

International Friendship Day

International Friendship Day

The 30th July marks International Friendship Day therefore The Wingfield care home in Trowbridge and Henford House in Warminster joined up to celebrate the day with afternoon tea and cake. Other residents at the home took part in an arts & crafts session, making personalised friendship cards for their loved ones.

Praise and Worship

Praise and Worship

Members of Saint Thomas’ Church made the most of the glorious weather to hold Praise & Worship at the lodge garden with residents and visitors. Beautiful hymns were heard from afar and the service was followed by an afternoon tea and cake event.

The Magic Table

We are delighted to announce that we have just had a Magic Table installed, which is an interactive light projector, designed to support residents living with dementia by keeping them engaged through specialised games.

The light projections respond to hand and arm movement, promoting movement, allowing residents to stay stimulated and, most of all, have fun!

You can read more about it on this page.

Outdoor Activities

Outdoor Activities

Every time when the weather is sunny we take our activities outdoors. Residents enjoy afternoon tea gatherings, flower arranging sessions and board games in the garden of the home.

Saint John’s School

Saint John’s School

Residents enjoy visiting the students of Saint John's Catholic primary school every Tuesday. Together they take part in gardening, crafting and reading activities.

The Prince's Trust Day

The Prince's Trust Day

As part of their programme, members of The Prince’s Trust volunteered to join residents of The Wingfield for a day of activities.

Students and leaders were then invited to take part in a dementia session, led by The Wingfield’s Dementia Champion, Galya Guncheva, where they were able to grasp a real understanding of the disease and learn that, with the right support, it is possible to live well with the condition.

They were gifted a Dementia Friend badge in honour of their understanding and support, and were all keen to raise awareness thereafter.
