Henford House Care Home in Warminster

Henford House provides 24-our nursing and residential care for older people. We also offer respite care and short breaks so that, whether you care for a relative or are in need of care yourself, you can take a break from your usual routine. Residents and their loved ones tell us that Henford House really is a special place, with staff who put the needs of those they support before everything else.

Many of the staff here at Henford House have been with us for a long time, which helps to create a warm family feeling in the home. Our person-centred approach to care involves discussing and reviewing each individual’s needs with staff on a regular basis. The home also has a full-time activities team, who work to help residents live a full and active life. Not only are the staff one of the home’s biggest assets, but the period building, fabulous gardens and its rural location all add up to make Henford House a care home with a heart.

We know and understand that the decision to move into a care home, or having to find the right home for a friend or loved one is a hard and difficult one to make. We are here to help make this journey as simple and straightforward as possible. So, why not begin by picking up the phone to discuss how we can help you make the right decision?

We welcome visitors at any time – there’s no need to make an appointment. We look forward to welcoming you into our home and having a chat over a cup of coffee and a delicious piece of homemade cake.

Types of care

The care we provide is delivered in a way that promotes independence for those who live in our home. Where possible, it is important that residents are encouraged to perform daily tasks independently or with minor support. Our services are devised with individualised treatment in mind for each person, so getting to know everyone and understanding their needs is imperative to delivering bespoke, person-centred care.

Karen Sawyer

General Manager

Hi, my name is Karen and I am the General Manager here at Henford House. Welcome to our website!

I originally qualified as a nurse in 1989 and have since worked in a variety of diverse settings, most recently within nursing home management. At the heart of all my work, however, has been a passion for the highest standard of care and support possible.

As a General Manager, my aim is to ensure that, as a team, we continue to deliver person-centered care to those we support, placing them at the heart of everything we do and meeting individual needs with the passion and commitment they deserve — and that this is enabled by compassionate and skilled staff.

Sarah Hornal

I have been working at Henford House now for 10 years starting off as a domestic assistant, having also worked in the kitchen, laundry then as a carer.  I have finally worked my way up to become the home administrator, which I feel very settled in.  I am able to have the daily interaction with the residents at the same time as doing a job I love.

Debbie Phillips

Activities Coordinator

I joined Henford House in March 2014; after five and a half years of domiciliary care, this position became available at Henford and I decided that it would be great to do more of the fun things in life with residents! It is great here at the home; we get along so well and truly have some laughs. Residents have a wide range of activities to participate in each week, including armchair exercises, bingo sessions, singalongs, musical entertainment, pottery, manicures, celebrations and much more. It is very rewarding knowing that people are grateful for the work I've done when I go. Working here has also given me the opportunity to gain my Level 2 NAPA certificate.

Lorelle Woodward

Head Chef

I joined Henford as a Kitchen Assistant and was pleased to be promoted to Head Chef when the opportunity arose.

I enjoy cooking and creating menus for residents, who all have differing tastes and diets. This always makes for some interesting meals! I encourage those we support to suggest menu ideas and options, which can result in some unique alternatives and combinations.

All our food is prepared from fresh in the kitchen. We welcome family and friends who are joining their loved ones for lunch or supper, and host a monthly Lunch Club for people in our community to come in and sample our food. We also promote a Don't Dine Alone initiative, where people who don't wish to eat alone can come in to enjoy some company and a delicious lunch.
