Bloomfield is a purpose-built residential care home in Bristol - located in large, secure gardens - and provides 24-hour nursing care, dementia care and respite care for frail older people. It is split into five units, including two for people living with dementia. Bristol and Avonmouth are both nearby and public transport links are good.

Care at Bloomfield is based on detailed assessments and care plans, which cover areas like life history, likes and dislikes, spiritual and religious needs and all aspects of personal daily living needs. Bloomfield has three activities coordinators, working with residents and staff to ensure that everyone can choose group or one-to-one activities that reflect their interests. Group activities include pottery, gardening, crafts, crosswords, baking and trips out.

The best way to decide about Bloomfield is to come to see it for yourself. We welcome visitors and are happy to be contacted to help with advice where we can.

Our team

All the staff at Bloomfield play a part in the addmission of a new resident. We are all here to make newcomers feel welcome and at ease in their new surroundings. The care staff will introduce themselves throughout the day, making sure residents are happy and that they know where everything is. The activity staff will come and say hello and talk new residents through the activity planner, and the Head Chef is always keen to find out about specific likes and dislikes. Our staff are carefully chosen to make sure those we support receive the best care possible so that life can be enjoyed to the fullest.

Julie Cotterill

General Manager

Hi, my name is Julie and I am the General Manager here at Bloomfield.

I have been with Barchester at this home for over 6 years with a short break at the 5.5 year mark. After realising the grass isn’t greener on the other side, I came back ‘home’ to Bloomfield.

I have a real passion for Bloomfield; my Father was here for about 2.5 years, and that is, in itself, the highest accolade I can give to a home!

I am looking forward to the future at Bloomfield Care Centre.

Our care

The care we provide is of the utmost importance to the whole team; our main concern is that residents feel safe, happy and comfortable at Bloomfield Care Centre. We will consult residents and families when creating care plans, with aims of making our services as person-centred as possible. We will enquire about life before Bloomfield, so that we get a clear picture of who residents are, inside and out. We received a 'Good' rating in our last CQC inspection because the staff at Bloomfield are passionate about care - and it shows!
