Activities at Cheshire Grange Care Home

The activities team are constantly striving to meet the varied needs of everyone who lives in our home, offering a wide range of group and individual social events. There are regular visits from entertainers, along with craft activities, baking, games & puzzle days and pampering sessions, which fill the week. However, we can always find time for outings and just spending that little bit of special time with residents who enjoy the peace and quiet. We aim to bring the activities to the individual, whilst making it a whole home experience.

Jo Eland

Activities Coordinator

After originally starting at Cheshire Grange in May 2015, I'm delighted to be back in the role of Activities Coordinator. It is a privilege to be in this role and spend time, getting to know our ladies and gentleman and their loved one, whilst doing all the fun things that can make such a difference to their days.

Life at Cheshire Grange Care Home

Out for Lunch

Out for Lunch

What is Christmas without party hats, crackers, silly jokes and a slap-up meal?  Three shuttle runs in the minibus saw many residents enjoy this at the local Hallmark Hotel.

Christmas Choirs

Carol singers were frequently heard at Cheshire Grange over the festive period; we had visits from the children of Statham Beavers, Kids Planet Day Nursery and The Old Vicarage Day Nursery, along with the amazing pupils in years 5 & 6 from Cherry Tree Primary School. We also had a visit from carollers from All Saints Church and Senior Carer, Colin, with his wife and friends from local churches, who also brought gifts for the residents that were made by the ladies at the Knit & Natter group, based at The Foundry Church.

Christmas Crafts

Christmas is a fantastic time for arts & crafts, and residents were kept busy with many festive creations, including Christmas cards and pine cone elves.

St Mary's Church Tree Festival

The local church once again held a Christmas Tree Festival, where there were approximatly 50 trees on display.

The theme of our tree was taken from 'The Nutcracker Suite' by E.T.A. Hoffmann, which centres on a family's Christmas Eve celebration in the early 19th century. Entwining the story of Drosselmeyer, a magical clockmaker and creator of mechanical toys, we have decorated our tree in true Victorian style, with Christmas boxes representing the toys, striped sugar canes as the Kingdom of Sweets and the sugar plum is overseeing the whole event from atop the tree. The tree is adorned with nutcrackers, soldiers and ballerinas, keeping in theme with the story.

The tree was an ongoing project throughout November, with residents making the decorations in our arts & crafts sessions.

Warrington BSL Singing Choir

Warrington BSL Singing Choir

We were delighted to welcome back members of Warrington BSL Signing Choir, when they entertained residents at our Christmas Fair, with backing tracks of festive tunes old and new as they 'signed' the lyrics. The atmosphere was so calm and relaxing – a lovely way to spend an afternoon!

Christmas Cake

Christmas Cake

There was no shortage of Christmas Cakes at Cheshire Grange over the festive period. Our Deputy Manager, Debbie, brought in one of her Christmas specials and residents from each floor helped to bake and decorate a cake. We won't mention which one was tastier, but a slightly larger 'splosh' of brandy might have helped it on its way!
