Activities at Cheshire Grange Care Home

The activities team are constantly striving to meet the varied needs of everyone who lives in our home, offering a wide range of group and individual social events. There are regular visits from entertainers, along with craft activities, baking, games & puzzle days and pampering sessions, which fill the week. However, we can always find time for outings and just spending that little bit of special time with residents who enjoy the peace and quiet. We aim to bring the activities to the individual, whilst making it a whole home experience.

Jo Eland

Activities Coordinator

After originally starting at Cheshire Grange in May 2015, I'm delighted to be back in the role of Activities Coordinator. It is a privilege to be in this role and spend time, getting to know our ladies and gentleman and their loved one, whilst doing all the fun things that can make such a difference to their days.

Flower Arranging

Flower Arranging

Ladies & care staff on all communities enjoyed making some colourful creations with a variety of flowers and greenery. The finished arrangements have been used as centrepieces for the dining tables and to brighten up residents' rooms.

Summer Fair

Summer Fair

The sun shone down on us for our Summer Fair, which followed on from Care Home Open Day. We were entertained by the Warrington BSL Signing Choir, who received much applause from residents and visitors. There were refreshments on offer, including Pimm's, homemade lemonade, fancy cakes and strawberries and cream.

Scarecrow Trail

Scarecrow Trail

We would like to introduce our scarecrow, who is currently sitting proudly at our main entrance enjoying a cup of tea. The scarecrow is part of the Scarecrow Trail for the Lymm Festival, which had a theme of robots this year. Other scarecrows in the village can be seen here.

Donald Duck Day

Donald Duck Day

Residents on all communities enjoyed a duck-themed afternoon in honour of Donald Duck. Interesting duck facts were learned with duck trivia and a duck quiz got everyone thinking. The Hook-A-Duck became quite competitive as residents concentrated on the task at hand.

Beside the Seaside

Beside the Seaside

The sun was shining, so where better to go than to the seaside? We headed out to New Brighton, where residents enjoyed fish and chips, ice cream and a stroll along the promenade. The day was completed with a singalong on the journey back.

Poetry with Statham Primary

Poetry with Statham Primary

Residents were delighted to be entertained by year 5 children from a local primary school. The children had memorised some well-known poems, along with writing some original works. These poems were delivered with confidence and enthusiasm, finishing with the classic, 'The Lion and Albert'. Residents from all communities were enthralled by the children and showed their appreciation with much applause and by sharing some verses that they remembered. We look forward to future visits.
