Activities at Cheshire Grange Care Home
The activities team are constantly striving to meet the varied needs of everyone who lives in our home, offering a wide range of group and individual social events. There are regular visits from entertainers, along with craft activities, baking, games & puzzle days and pampering sessions, which fill the week. However, we can always find time for outings and just spending that little bit of special time with residents who enjoy the peace and quiet. We aim to bring the activities to the individual, whilst making it a whole home experience.

After originally starting at Cheshire Grange in May 2015, I'm delighted to be back in the role of Activities Coordinator. It is a privilege to be in this role and spend time, getting to know our ladies and gentleman and their loved one, whilst doing all the fun things that can make such a difference to their days.

Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Cheshire Grange Care Home
Sunflower Power
Whilst the sun was shining outside, the ladies and gents on all communities brought that sunshine inside with a beautiful bouquet of handmade sunflowers.
Touching Senses
Our ladies and gents on Memory Lane have been working with a local art therapist, producing some amazing work which we were lucky enough to have exhibited at Warrington Museum.
The project used both visual and tactile sensory objects to spark memories. The backgrounds were made first using printing and collage, each working on a different piece each week. The following week someone else would work on a piece that another person had started.This collaboration is what gives the work a wonderful sense of unity. Everybody contributed to each piece and this project gave every resident the opportunity to work as a group while expressing themselves creatively.
At the end of the project, we decided to call the exhibition ‘Touching Senses’, as over the months, we saw how the process of this project literally touched so many senses for the residents, both emotionally and physically.
Independence Day
The Star Spangled Banner was flying at Cheshire Grange as the ladies and gents celebrated American Independence Day. There was a USA-themed lunch menu with burgers and chilli con carne and cherry pie for dessert, then entertainment from country singer, Brendan Fox, who got all the ladies dancing. We ended the afternoon with much-needed doughnuts and blueberry muffins and American ginger ale.
Indoor Sports Day
To celebrate Senior Health & Fitness Day, we hosted an Indoor Sports Day. Residents took part in hoopla, carpet darts, balloon batting, skittles and 'keepsie-uppies' on a tennis racket. It all got very competitive and, at the end, everyone was presented with a certificate for participating.
Music & Dance
There's always a party atmosphere when Richard Millington visits us with his keyboard, playing residents' favourite tunes. The ladies couldn't resist getting up for a dance and had a grand old time. Smiles and laughter were the orders of the day.
Zoolab Returns
A visit from Zoolab gave our ladies and gents a chance to learn about and get close to mini beasties, snakes and some mischievous rodents.
