Activities at Braeburn Lodge Care Home

Our dedicated activities team are constantly dreaming up new and wonderful ways to support and stimulate the residents we look after. From trips to crafts, parties to skittles, musical performances and quizzes, we include something for everyone and pride ourselves on including everyone into the fun. We have a brilliant team of volunteers who help us to deliver more trips, support us at events and pop in for a cup of tea and chat. We have pet therapy at least once per week (sometimes twice!) and we take advantage of every school break by holding large scale events that we can invite families with children to. We have been developing ties with our neighbours since we first opened and thanks to this, we have successfully brought together our residents with local churches, choirs, Brownies groups, and schools. Whatever your interests are, here at Braeburn, there's something for everyone.

Life at Braeburn Lodge Care Home

The Return of HMS Welland

The Return of HMS Welland

We were lucky enough to have a return visit from Sea Shanty Group, The HMS Welland. Back by popular demand, we revelled in the spirit and humour in their performance and had a wonderful time joining in with their singing and tapping our toes along to the beat. We had a lovely chat with them afterwards over some tea and coffee and it made for a fun and unique afternoon.

Tai Chi at Braeburn

Tai Chi at Braeburn

Our monthly Tai Chi sessions seem to be gaining more and more popularity. We had a full house during this month’s exercise session, with everybody participating as much as they could - and helping out their neighbours too. We would also like to wish Ray good luck in his upcoming exam!

Crowland Abbey Flower Festival

Crowland Abbey Flower Festival

On August bank holiday, we ventured out to Crowland Abbey to see the flower festival there. It was truly an amazing experience, not only for seeing the beautiful floral arrangements, but also for learning about the history of the building as we walked around the old Abbey and joined the community in a prayer. We finished the outing with some wonderful homemade cakes and a cup of tea as we read out a letter from the Chaplain which inspired us to appreciate the spiritual history of the building.

Trudi Mason Brings the House Down

Trudi Mason Brings the House Down

To send off the week in style, Trudi Mason came to entertain us with her upbeat music and singing! We were dancing, clapping and singing along with her. The Lambeth Walk proved very successful as we brought the house down with our shouts of “Oi!” By the end, we were definitely ready for our glass of lemonade and a quiet wind down of laughing and conversation. We can’t wait for Trudi’s next visit at our Christmas party!

Our New Mobile Library Service

Our New Mobile Library Service

This week we had the first visit from our Lovely Library Ladies, Linda and Lorraine! Thanks to the Deeping Library, we are now able have a library in the home with a selection of books that are picked especially according to residents and their tastes. This service will run once a fortnight on a Thursday morning, between 10:00 and 11:30am. Linda and Lorraine are slowly getting to know residents' favourite styles of writing, so they can tailor the selection of books to suit their desires. We are very happy to have been chosen to enjoy this service and a big thank you goes out to the friends of Deeping Library for thinking of us!

Fish & Chips at the Boundary

Fish & Chips at the Boundary

We had some new faces at our monthly lunch at the Boundary this week, and with the lovely weather we’ve been having recently, we couldn’t resist some of their gorgeous ice cream with fresh berries to finish off the meal properly. We had many laughs as we enjoyed the treat of eating out and indulging in our favourite foods and drinks.
