Activities at Braeburn Lodge Care Home

Our dedicated activities team are constantly dreaming up new and wonderful ways to support and stimulate the residents we look after. From trips to crafts, parties to skittles, musical performances and quizzes, we include something for everyone and pride ourselves on including everyone into the fun. We have a brilliant team of volunteers who help us to deliver more trips, support us at events and pop in for a cup of tea and chat. We have pet therapy at least once per week (sometimes twice!) and we take advantage of every school break by holding large scale events that we can invite families with children to. We have been developing ties with our neighbours since we first opened and thanks to this, we have successfully brought together our residents with local churches, choirs, Brownies groups, and schools. Whatever your interests are, here at Braeburn, there's something for everyone.

Afternoon of Laughter

Afternoon of Laughter

We joined up with the welcome group for another fun afternoon of games and laughter. We played bingo and pub quizzes together before darting off to the dining room for a gorgeous homemade chicken pie! We were very happy to see so many familiar faces return to see us and we look forward to hosting another afternoon in the new year.

Christmas Comes Early

Christmas Comes Early

Our Carers were in the Christmas spirit recently, and happened to stumble upon a box of Christmas carols and classic songs. One tinsel halo, 2 maracas and and triangle later and we had ourselves a very imprtomptu musical show for residents!

Keep It Moving With Ruth

Keep It Moving With Ruth

We had a lot of fun this Monday morning with an exercise class to music with Ruth. She got out our favourite sparkly batons and had us moving to the music and also introduced us to a couple of new apparatus, including some stretchy bands and a brightly coloured parachute.

Trip to Essex Road Community Centre

Trip to Essex Road Community Centre

Our latest visit to Essex Road for a concert by Jeremy Hillyard coincidentally fell on a resident’s birthday!

So, of course, we couldn’t resist bringing the cake along to the party and sharing the special day with our friends at Essex Road.

A lovely afternoon was had by all and we were thoroughly wiped out from all the singing and dancing.

Boundary Fish & Chips

Boundary Fish & Chips

This month’s Boundary fish and chip lunch was surprisingly masculine for a change, with just 3 out of 9 of us being women! It was a nice change to have the men out together enjoying a quiet lunch with great company and some lovely ice cream to finish!

Macmillan Coffee Morning

Macmillan Coffee Morning

We joined the country in holding the world’s biggest coffee morning to raise money for MacMillan Cancer Support! We had harpist, John Dalton, perform a wide variety of music, ranging from Lambeth Walk to more gentle, classical pieces. Our Chef, Sonic, did us proud with some gorgeous cakes that were gone before we could snap a picture. We also played host to some of the local community, and it was lovely to see people make new friends. All in all, it was a wonderful way to spend the morning and we raised £43.63 for the charity.
