Activities at Braeburn Lodge Care Home

Our dedicated activities team are constantly dreaming up new and wonderful ways to support and stimulate the residents we look after. From trips to crafts, parties to skittles, musical performances and quizzes, we include something for everyone and pride ourselves on including everyone into the fun. We have a brilliant team of volunteers who help us to deliver more trips, support us at events and pop in for a cup of tea and chat. We have pet therapy at least once per week (sometimes twice!) and we take advantage of every school break by holding large scale events that we can invite families with children to. We have been developing ties with our neighbours since we first opened and thanks to this, we have successfully brought together our residents with local churches, choirs, Brownies groups, and schools. Whatever your interests are, here at Braeburn, there's something for everyone.

PAT Visit

PAT Visit

We were introduced to the newest member of our team: Jamima, a local PAT dog. Her owner, Suzi, introduced us and they both made some new friends while they were here. We look forward to making this a regular occurrence so we can get our weekly fix of cuddles.

Holy Communion and Hymn Singing

Holy Communion and Hymn Singing

Our recent church service with Rev. Linda was very well-attended and we enjoyed seeing some new faces and hearing their voices join ours during the hymns. We ended the afternoon with a nice cup of tea and talked about the upcoming Harvest Festival, which we are very excited about.

Activation Training

Activation Training

We tried a new form of exercise called 'activation training'. We moved, stretched and danced our way through some of our favourite pub songs and found the session tiring, but very rewarding. We ended the session with a dance routine, which was ever so much fun, and finished with some gentle relaxation and cool down stretches. We had a lot of giggles and enjoyed singing along whilst we got our blood pumping, and were in good need of a nice cuppa by the end of it. We look forward to seeing more of Jo and her training in the months ahead.

Coffee at Inside Out

Coffee at Inside Out

With an afternoon to spare and a thirst for a cuppa, we decided to pop into the local Inside Out café for some tea and cakes. It was lovely to get to know some new faces, and the lemon cake was heavenly! We have missed coming here and, as the bad weather starts to set in, we will undoubtedly be seeing more and more of the lovely ladies here.

Piano Recital at Peterborough Cathedral

Piano Recital at Peterborough Cathedral

We went to Peterborough Cathedral to hear a beautiful recital of music and song. Set within the tower in the Cathedral, it was the final performance of the Summer of Music event. The classical pieces were performed on a piano, which was accompanied by a male classical singer. After it had finished, we enjoyed a picnic and talked about the event over a much-needed cup of tea.
