Activities at Braeburn Lodge Care Home

Our dedicated activities team are constantly dreaming up new and wonderful ways to support and stimulate the residents we look after. From trips to crafts, parties to skittles, musical performances and quizzes, we include something for everyone and pride ourselves on including everyone into the fun. We have a brilliant team of volunteers who help us to deliver more trips, support us at events and pop in for a cup of tea and chat. We have pet therapy at least once per week (sometimes twice!) and we take advantage of every school break by holding large scale events that we can invite families with children to. We have been developing ties with our neighbours since we first opened and thanks to this, we have successfully brought together our residents with local churches, choirs, Brownies groups, and schools. Whatever your interests are, here at Braeburn, there's something for everyone.

Summer Fete

Summer Fete

The weather came through for us on this glorious Sunday afternoon, allowing us to hold our Summer Fete, bringing together all the residents and their families in one fun-packed event. We had singing and dancing, courtesy of Trudi Mason; Becs Fun Faces did face painting for the children and some members of staff even joined in on the fun! We had a BBQ, tombola, Jacqueline’s homemade crafts and Momma’s Magical Melts selling their goods. We polished off the afternoon with a wonderful magic show and balloon shaping from Keith’s Party Magic. Residents were overjoyed watching the little ones play with building bricks, balloons and skittles, and then watching their faces and hearing their laughs at Keith’s funny voices. Kind donations from family and friends totalled £105.71, which will go towards the resident's fund.

Thank you to everyone who attended and who helped make it such a special and relaxed day - we can’t wait for next year’s!

Wimbledon Cream Tea Party

Wimbledon Cream Tea Party

What better way to celebrate England’s fantastic wins at Wimbledon than with a classic English tea party? We had jam and cream scones in true English fashion and tested our knowledge with a tennis-themed quiz. We also played our hand at a bit of balloon tennis across the room, working up quite the appetite!

A local guitarist's debut at Braeburn

A local guitarist's debut at Braeburn

Residents were impressed by a local man named Joe, who offered up an hour of his Friday to come and play for us. It was a very daunting experience for him as we were the first people outside of his family to hear him play! We were a lovely audience for his first public performance, joining him in singing our favourite songs and tapping our feet to the beats. We were even lucky enough to be the first to hear an original song written by Joe himself! We thanked Joe for sharing his gift with us and we hope other local artists feel that they can come and practice their craft here too!

Trip Out to Ayscoughfee Hall

Trip Out to Ayscoughfee Hall

Once again, we made use of the glorious sun by journeying to Ayscoughfee Hall for a walk around the lovely gardens and pond and a cup of coffee in the sun. We thoroughly enjoyed watching the children chase each other around the maze and we admired the flowers and the aviary. We could of happily spent the day sat there –  it was so peaceful and full of the laughter of children. We enjoyed the sun and entertainment so much that we didn’t even go inside the house itself! We’ll leave that treat for another day - we can’t wait to return!
