Activities at Braeburn Lodge Care Home

Our dedicated activities team are constantly dreaming up new and wonderful ways to support and stimulate the residents we look after. From trips to crafts, parties to skittles, musical performances and quizzes, we include something for everyone and pride ourselves on including everyone into the fun. We have a brilliant team of volunteers who help us to deliver more trips, support us at events and pop in for a cup of tea and chat. We have pet therapy at least once per week (sometimes twice!) and we take advantage of every school break by holding large scale events that we can invite families with children to. We have been developing ties with our neighbours since we first opened and thanks to this, we have successfully brought together our residents with local churches, choirs, Brownies groups, and schools. Whatever your interests are, here at Braeburn, there's something for everyone.

New Guest Visit to Braeburn Lodge

New Guest Visit to Braeburn Lodge

Everyone was transfixed with the beautiful tones he coaxed from his harp and staff gazed on through the window, transfixed by the harmonious sounds. The residents and staff were in for a surprise when John started performing classics like “Bull and Bush”, “Dilly Dally”, and “1, 2, 3, 4, 4 o’clock Rock”! Requests were called out and John was only too happy to oblige, performing a range of genres from classical to war songs to famous ballads. Safe to say, all of us here at Braeburn can’t wait for his next performance!

Ruth Carlton Returns

Ruth Carlton Returns

Everyone at Braeburn Lodge welcomed back Ruth Carlton to help us loosen up and stretch. We particularly enjoyed the large yellow smiley face balloon which we hit around the room!

Trip to Ferry Meadows

Trip to Ferry Meadows

The residents from Braeburn Lodge braved the cold winters weather by a stroll alongside the boating lake at Ferry Meadows. It was good walking weather, fresh, dry and still. We treated ourselves to something warm from the lakeside café before heading back.

Baking on Pippin Lane

Baking on Pippin Lane

We warmed ourselves up on Pippin Lane this week doing baking!

We didn’t follow a recipe but we had flour, butter, sugar, eggs and vanilla and just went with our instincts and the result was a very tasty cookie!

Christmas Eve at Braeburn Lodge

Christmas Eve at Braeburn Lodge

The residents were visited by a lovely young boy named Connor. He came with an overflowing bag full of gifts for the residents and handed them out to everyone in the dining room. This card is our thank you card to Connor, full of lovely messages from the residents, thanking him for his generosity and kind spirit.
