Activities at Braeburn Lodge Care Home

Our dedicated activities team are constantly dreaming up new and wonderful ways to support and stimulate the residents we look after. From trips to crafts, parties to skittles, musical performances and quizzes, we include something for everyone and pride ourselves on including everyone into the fun. We have a brilliant team of volunteers who help us to deliver more trips, support us at events and pop in for a cup of tea and chat. We have pet therapy at least once per week (sometimes twice!) and we take advantage of every school break by holding large scale events that we can invite families with children to. We have been developing ties with our neighbours since we first opened and thanks to this, we have successfully brought together our residents with local churches, choirs, Brownies groups, and schools. Whatever your interests are, here at Braeburn, there's something for everyone.

Armistice Day

Armistice Day

For Armistice day, we took out two veteran residents to Peterborough Town Hall for the two minutes silence. They were pleased to be able to show their respect for their fallen friends and we finished off the day with a very nice lunch out at a restaurant.

Remembrance Sunday

Remembrance Sunday

For this year’s Remembrance Sunday, we took a group of residents to watch the parade in Peterborough, followed by the service in Peterborough Cathedral. For some residents, it was the first time they had seen the cathedral and they weren’t disappointed! One resident even bumped into some old friends from church, which added a lovely surprise to the special day. The sun shined for us all day as we remembered those who have fallen in the line of duty.

Doris's Birthday

Doris's Birthday

We celebrated Doris's 91st birthday recently! She had a lovely day with her family, which was followed by a gathering of her friends to sing another round of Happy Birthday with her second cake of the day.

Mary's 90th Birthday

Mary's 90th Birthday

Mary celebrated her 90th birthday with us recently. Our carers on Memory Lane threw her the most wonderful party full of friends, family, fun, laughter and lots and lots of cake! The team did a wonderful job decorating the lounge for the occasion, and the memory wall, full of pictures of Mary and her family, was a lovely personal touch. A massive happy birthday to Mary!

Bonfire Night

Bonfire Night

This year, we sat together in a warm lounge to watch our local firework display. We counted down the minutes with a game of bingo and enjoyed some scrumptious some scrumptious hot chocholate and biscuits. We turned off all of the lights and watched the gorgeous display in comfort and warmth. What could be better than that?

Movement to Music

Movement to Music

This month’s Movement to Music class was overcrowded with participants! The atmosphere was lively and everyone joined in with the games. We had brilliant fun passing balls around to each other, waving scarfs and dancing to the music as well. Another fantastic session Ruth!
