Activities at Bamfield Lodge Care Home

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Life at Bamfield Lodge Care Home

International Country Music Day

Residents had fun celebrating International Country Music Day! We enjoyed singing along to a specially selected playlist and there was also the opportunity to see some genuine American cowboy outfits, as well as learn all about the origins of country music and it’s development over the years.

Filwood Fantastic

Residents at Bamfield Lodge were thrilled to be recognised by local community group ‘Filwood Fantastic’ – for growing sunflowers!

The ‘Gert Big Sunflower Award’ is given to individuals or groups who have brightened the local area and environment by growing sunflowers from seed. We are very proud to have our endeavours acknowledged and have our certificate very proudly on display.

Musical Magic

Residents at Bamfield Lodge were thrilled to meet solo violinist, Lizzie Lipscombe. Lizzie delighted us with a repertoire of classical music, some swing, light jazz and popular ballads.

Lizzie, who is also a Music Therapist, is a consummate professional and has worked with—amongst others—Smokey Robinson and Peter Gabriel. She is also an experienced cruise ship entertainer. We were so lucky to see her perform!

Name That Tune

Residents living on our Memory Lane community enjoy games, puzzles and challenges. Our new ‘Name That Tune!’ activity, with its props and playlist, is proving to be very popular and is helping to keep brains active as well as being lots of fun.

Tea Afternoon

Residents and staff at Bamfield Lodge were treated to a luxurious cream tea, courtesy of local community school teacher, Linda Selby Tripp Edwards.

Linda had been impressed with the way staff and residents had coped throughout the pandemic and she thought everyone deserved a little morale booster. We all enjoyed a wonderful afternoon and we cannot thank Linda enough.

Ukulele Ladies

Residents at Bamfield Lodge took part in a great afternoon of music, song and discussion - along with local community ukulele band ‘The Kookettes’.

There was an opportunity to learn a few chords on the ukulele and also learn about its history and origins, as well as enjoy a great musical performance. Activity Lead, Sally, is a vocalist with the band and she is hoping to offer residents some ukulele workshops in due course (when these can be delivered safely).
