Activities at Bamfield Lodge Care Home

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

St Piran's Day

It's been a very special day for two of our residents, as we celebrated all things Cornish - in recognition of Saint Piran's Day. Pat was born at Helston and spent much of her early life there and Jenny has links to Launceston, where her father worked as a tin miner.

The Feast of Saint Piran is the national day of Cornwall - Saint Piran being the patron saint of tin miners. So, what better way to celebrate some true Cornish heritage with some Cornish memorabilia, real Cornish pasties, Cornish crafts, sea shell chocolates and an opportunity to sing along to some traditional sea shanties - along with the Port Isaac band -The Fisherman's Friends.

It's been a smashing afternoon with some great singing! Thank you everyone!

St David's Day Celebration

What a lovely afternoon we have all enjoyed, celebrating Saint David's Day! It was great to talk about our favourite Welsh towns and cities and remember historical events and symbols associated with this beautiful country.

There were some traditional Welsh cakes to share, and following a Welsh themed quiz, we listened to some pretty amazing male voice choirs and singers. We even learnt some Welsh words and found out about - the art of 'cwtching!' 'Hapus Dydd Gwyl Dewi' to one and all!

Real Bread Week

Residents at our Memory Lane Community, have enjoyed kneading and baking fresh bread, in recognition of Real Bread Week. It’s been great to see everyone getting involved and sharing the baking experience.

Tuning In!

Our residents have enjoyed taking part in World Radio Day and have shared their own memories about the way in which radio has shaped their lives.

They listened to some memorable broadcasts and explored an old re-conditioned GPO radio, which brought back lots of memories from yesteryear - a familiar sight in many of our homes back then. It's been great to reminisce.

Happy and Glorious

We have all enjoyed remembering and celebrating Queen Elizabeth's accession to the throne - 70 years ago! We were delighted to be able to share some genuine souvenir memorabilia and special Coronation brochures, printed in 1953.

These are still in excellent condition and contain beautiful colour images of the event. It's been great to reminisce and to hear everyone's stories and special memories.

Santa's little helpers

Residents at Bamfield Lodge, have been busy making Christmas Eve boxes for local pre-school The Hive. Everyone enjoyed filling the boxes with small gifts and treats.
