Activities at Bamfield Lodge Care Home

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

St David's Day

Happy St David’s Day from us all at Bamfield Lodge!

We’ve all had a lovely day discussing Welsh traditions and customs. We learnt about the history of love spoons and also listened to the poetry of Dylan Thomas.

In Arts & Crafts sessions this month, our residents made paper daffodils to decorate our lounges. In the next session, we enjoyed a cookery afternoon when we made daffodil shaped biscuits. We all agreed they were delicious!

Our music today included The Fron Male Voice Choir, Tom Jones, Shirley Bassey and of course the Welsh National Anthem. One of our gentleman, originally from Wales, treated us to a rendition of the traditional Welsh song, ‘Sospan Fach’ - Well done Sir!

We then all enjoyed a lovely cup of tea and some Welsh cakes!

‘Dydd Gwyl Dewi Hapus’ - to you all!

Arts & Crafts

Arts and crafts activities are enjoyed by many of our residents at Bamfield Lodge. It's good to see lots of creativity and self-expression through art work, which has resulted is some very unique examples of work. We hope you like a few of our latest pieces!

Chinese New Year

Our Chinese New Year celebrations (Year of the Ox) have been a colourful affair!

We had a lovely afternoon discussing the Chinese culture, customs and traditions and enjoyed Chinese horoscopes and Chinese fortune sticks. We listened also to some beautiful bamboo water music which everyone found very relaxing.

Some lovely Chinese proverbs were read out and we sampled some prawn and rice crackers and drank tea from traditional Chinese tea cups.

We also translated our names into Mandarin and made personal bookmarks and coasters. Later some residents made Chinese blossom tree pictures.

What a great afternoon!

Rhythm Workshop

Our ‘Rhythm Workshop’ is proving to be lots of fun for residents at Bamfield Lodge! Most popular is the drumming and percussion section, where we get to drum in time to some Jive Bunny medleys and a selection of iconic rock ballads!

Let’s make some noise, Bamfield Lodge!

Card Creations

Our card making group have been recycling used greetings cards kindly donated by friends, family and staff, and have very cleverly turned them into attractive, new designs!

Big Garden Bird Watch

Residents at Bamfield Lodge took part in the RSPB Big Garden Bird Watch.

We bird treats to entice the birds into the garden and we also got creative when we designed and painted some lovely bird themed garden bunting.

We were very lucky to spot a pair of robins as well as a wood pigeon, magpie and several blue tits today.

These birds regularly feed from the bird table belonging to one of our lady residents, who lives on our ground floor.

A very big thank you to everyone who took part in this project. There are some real ornithologists amongst you!
