Activities at Alice Grange Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Penny Allen

Lead Activities Coordinator

Hi, my name is Penny and I am the Lead Activities Coordinator here at Alice Grange.

I have many years of experience working in care homes in Activities, leisure and lifestyle roles.

I love being part of the Alice Grange team and supporting our residents to live their best lives with fun, interesting, and varied activities available every week. I always feel that the residents' input into our weekly planner is important as it gives all residents equal opportunity to explore new interests as well as keeping up with previous passions and hobbies.

Furry And Feathered Friends Visit

An amazing time was had by residents and staff when the fantastic team from Performing Pets visited on Monday.

The leading animal therapy organisation brought puppies and budgies to brighten up the day of everyone at Alice Grange! All the residents were overjoyed to see these tiny creatures and couldn't wait to get to hold them.

Animal therapy is a cornerstone of our activities and well-being programme and we are proud to work with Performing Pets and our other therapy partners.

Performing Pets will be visiting again next week with a different set of animals and we cannot wait to see the joy they bring again.

It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas!

Each of our communities has started decorating a Christmas tree as part of our in-house competition. Some have gone for a traditional approach, whilst others have gone for a strictly coordinated look.

Which do you think is looking the best so far

The Christmas calendar is planned, the food has been ordered, presents are being wrapped, the trees are up and the music is playing.

As we countdown to the big day we are enjoying the festive spirit in the home (along with plenty of festive chocolates) and writing our wish lists!

Rock 'N' Roll Christmas

Residents and staff were rocking and rolling along with The King when Elvis visited Alice Grange!

He sang all of our favourites and gave a fantastic performance as always. Elvis is a huge fan favourite here at Alice Grange and we love the energy he brings with him.

Keeping Fit

The brilliant Darren Barnes has been helping to keep us fit, healthy and limber with his fantastic chair exercise sessions. Darren ensures all his sessions are full of laughter.

Whilst the sessions are great for individual health, we are pretty sure the ladies are attending because of how Darren looks in his shorts!

Macmillan Coffee Morning

Well the weather definitely cooperated for our Macmillan Coffee Morning, which meant we had a great time in the garden enjoying some beautifully homemade cakes.

The final total raised is still being counted, but we had a great morning and everything goes to a fantastic cause.

New Gardening Projects

This week we have been starting some new gardening projects with great support from Abberton Rural Training.

The wonderful team from Abberton Rural Training have brought expertise, experience, creative ideas and a fun attitude to the gardening sessions at Alice Grange. They believe that gardening is for everyone, at any age. We are looking forward to working more with them and creating a fantastic outdoor space.
