Activities at Red Oaks Care Home

We believe in making a difference to the lives of people living here with us and ensure that we provide a lifestyle full of choice and stimulation that is centred around each resident here at Red Oaks. This includes a whole host of varied activities, together with regular trips out around the region, taking full advantage of the home’s minibus. Our aim is to enable each person we support to continue to do the things they enjoy for as long as they possibly can.

Sue McHoy

Activities Coordinator

My role as activity coordinator at Red Oaks is ensuring that all residents have a full and varied activity program. Using our getting to know me books and knowing our residents backgrounds develop our activity program. Having lived in Henfield for the past 10 years I enjoy assisting residents maintaining and forming new the community connections.

I am passionate about my role, the part is having fun and making people smile.

Life at Red Oaks Care Home

Winter Walks

Residents and staff enjoyed a sunny day walking in Red Oaks' extensive gardens looking for signs of spring. The crocus and snowdrops are starting to make an appearance.

Stop the Clock!

Wednesday is stop the clock time; all members of the team stop and spend time with residents, which results in positive outcomes for both residents and staff.

National Bird Day

Red Oaks residents celebrated National Bird Day by ensuring that our garden birds had sufficient food in the winter months by making hanging bird feeder balls.

The residents enjoyed mixing the food and making different shapes, moulding them on to strings and waiting for them to set.

This has encouraged the tits to come back to our nesting boxes for all the residents to enjoy. We look forward to the baby chicks in the spring.

Special Visits

Families are enjoying and making full use of our visiting suite at Red Oaks. One person produced a presentation for his Mum on his iPad and in large print about why he could not hug her, and all the news from the family from over the Christmas period with lots of photos.

The Vaccination Arrives!

All residents and staff were excited to received their COVID-19 vaccinations from Dr Newsom of The Glebe Surgery, and Dr Crawford Clarke of Henfield Medical Centre.

Everyone was so pleased to be given the vaccine, helping keep residents safe, and it is the first step in getting things back to normal and having a buzz of visitors in the home once again.

Leading the way with the Covid Vaccine

Staff at Red Oaks were so happy to be invited to have the vaccination at Brighton Hospital, which has lifted everyone's spirits. Linda the General Manager said "Our team have been fantastic they have really risen to the challenge. We are proud to play our part and make sure we protect our most vulnerable"
