Activities at Red Oaks Care Home
We believe in making a difference to the lives of people living here with us and ensure that we provide a lifestyle full of choice and stimulation that is centred around each resident here at Red Oaks. This includes a whole host of varied activities, together with regular trips out around the region, taking full advantage of the home’s minibus. Our aim is to enable each person we support to continue to do the things they enjoy for as long as they possibly can.
Sue McHoy
My role as activity coordinator at Red Oaks is ensuring that all residents have a full and varied activity program. Using our getting to know me books and knowing our residents backgrounds develop our activity program. Having lived in Henfield for the past 10 years I enjoy assisting residents maintaining and forming new the community connections.
I am passionate about my role, the part is having fun and making people smile.

Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Red Oaks Care Home
Christingle traditions
Everyone had a lovely afternoon making Christingle candles. It symbolises light of the world and has become somewhat of a December tradition here at Red Oaks.
Kindness Delivery
One of our lovely residents families have all made Christmas cotton masks for all our staff. They got together as a family and stitched over 80 brightly coloured masks. They then delivered them to Red Oaks. They wanted to show their appreciation for everything the staff do. Not just for their family member but everyone. Thank you so much for such a kind gesture.
Introducing our brand new visiting suite
Residents and relatives are overjoyed as Red Oaks have implemented a designated visiting suite, for residents to continue to spend time with their loved ones. We understand the importance of family time and are so pleased with the results. It has been a big hit already and we know that through the winter months we are happy in the knowledge that everyone remains safe and connected.
Supporting Children in Need
Lots of fun was had supporting Children in Need. Fancy dress, stunning cakes, fun and games all whilst raising money and awareness for a fabulous charity.
Knitting squares for our community project
Residents at Red Oaks nursing home, in Henfield have begun Christmas preparations early. Residents and staff have dusted off their knitting needles and started to make green squares in preparation for their knitted Christmas tree. Each year residents and staff produce a different tree that all have contributed to, this year they have set themselves a mammoth task of making a knitted Christmas tree and would like to call on the community to help knit green squares. 30 stitches by 50 rows.
Baking Afternoon
Residents had a great afternoon baking in the lifestyle kitchen. They made an assortment of bread followed by some rock cakes. Everyone enjoyed them with a nice cup of tea.
