Activities at Prestbury Beaumont Care Community

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Cake competition entry

Throughout December, Residents have been busy counting down to Christmas with their busy life enrichment programme filled with fun-filled festive activities.

We have been busy making festive decorations to display around our home and making our Christmas cakes, starting them early so we could ‘feed’ them with brandy or sherry and leaving plenty of time for them to mature before decorating and entering into Barchester’s annual Christmas cake competition.

As we made our cakes, it was lovely to hear everyone sharing their memories of Christmases past, the traditions they enjoyed and what Christmas has meant to them.

The judging of the Christmas cakes will take place on 11th December and we can’t wait to sample the finished cake! Good luck to everyone and may the best cake win!

Residents stay connected in Winter months

Residents are overjoyed at Prestbury Beaumont Care Community in Prestbury, as Barchester Healthcare has implemented a visiting suite for residents to continue to spend time with their loved ones for the autumn and winter seasons in addition to the outdoor visiting that has been on offer for those able for many months.

Balancing resident wellbeing and safety is at the forefront of Barchester Healthcare’s thinking and they understand how important it is for residents and their family and friends to be able to spend time together in the safest way possible.

There has been much careful planning and preparation for this moment by Barchester Healthcare, who run Prestbury Beaumont Care Community. It was welcome news for their residents and family and friends as we enter the colder season meaning catch-ups can continue to take place, instead of, or in addition to, outdoor visiting already offered for those able.

Poppies at St Peter's Prestbury

Residents at The Prestbury Beaumont Care Community enjoyed painting red poppies on pebbles to line the path to St Peters’ Church Prestbury.   Each of the fifteen hand painted pebbles have been weatherproofed and laid at the lawn edge leading to from the ancient lytch gate to St Peters’ main entrance. Activity co ordinator Olivia Falkner places them with care for Remembrance Day.

Giving a helping hand

Residents at Prestbury Beaumont have worked together to produce a beautiful Remembrance Wreath. With deft fingers they formed various sized paper poppies each painted to replicate real poppy heads.  They home you enjoy the finished product as much as they do.

Home receives postcards of kindness

Prestbury Beaumont Care Community in Prestbury have recently received a postcard from a Day care center in Taiwan, connecting residents within their homes with people similar to themselves but across continents.

Ricare Day Care Center in Taoyuan City in Taiwan originally reached out to the Prestbury Beaumont in May 2020, to which residents wrote back asking them questions about their care center and its residents. It is only now in October, our friends in Taiwan have written a lovely reply back.

Residents of Prestbury Beaumont, which is run by Barchester Healthcare, have been sharing their stories of the year and how they have been coping with Covid-19 in their home, and making new friends with the residents from Ricare Day Care Center.

Wear it Pink fun

Staff and residents at Prestbury Beaumont Care Community in Prestbury have taken part in the annual ‘Wear it pink’ day to raise money for Breast Cancer now.

Wear it pink is an initiative started by Breast Cancer Now to raise money and awareness for breast cancer. This year to raise money we held a private fundraiser in our home for residents and staff. All of us wore pink in some shape or another, we sold and ate pink cupcakes, pink champagne and pink gin to donate to this worthy charity! Not only did we raise money, but we had fun getting involved in the community of wear it pink.
