Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Life at Prestbury Beaumont Care Community

A Floral Surprise

Despite the chaos during the coronavirus pandemic, kindness is blooming in Prestbury, as residents receive a floral surprise from local school, Mottram St Andrew Primary Academy. Individually wrapped bunches of daffodils were delivered to the home, which were kindly donated by the school’s PTA committee.

We were very surprised and it’s a wonderful gesture! It was very kind for the school to think of us. The delivery came as schools closed and, instead of going to waste, they were donated to home to brighten up their day.

Residents Help Wild Birds Find a Home

Prestbury Beaumont has decided to make its garden more attractive to birds by planting shrubs and flowers that will benefit wildlife throughout the year and has introduced nesting boxes.

With spring around the corner, residents of Prestbury Beaumont are helping the wild birds find a home with these brightly painted bird boxes designed and coloured themselves as part of their regular arts and crafts session.  We took advantage of the early spring sunshine to our art club handiwork before placing  them around the gardens ready for the new occupants to move in.

The home is situated in extensive grounds where a variety of plants grow from brambles, hawthorn and honeysuckle, which provide berries, attract insects birds like to eat, and provide good nesting material.

Nest boxes for smaller birds have been strategically positioned around the garden and several will provide residents with a good view of all the comings and goings should birds take up residence.

Birthday Celebrations

Celebrations have been in full swing at Prestbury Beaumont, as one of our residents celebrated her birthday in style. Resident, Nicolina, was delighted to be presented with a special birthday cake, delivered to the home by her family.

We’re delighted to be celebrating a truly remarkable lady’s birthday. Nicolina is such a popular resident, who always has interesting tales to tell, and it was wonderful for the team to celebrate with her.

Antiques and Fine Art

Adam Partridge, one of the UK’s best known antiques and fine art personalities, spent an afternoon at the Prestbury Beaumont to give his expert advice and valuations of residents’ treasured antiques.

This included paintings, prints, sculptures, ornaments and jewellery with one gentleman introducing a valued Samurai sword. Adam gave us an insight into the history behind several of the items and enthralled everyone with his many humorous anecdotes.

Adam said his visits are becoming a tradition at Prestbury and looks forward to visiting the Care Home again in the near future.

The "King" was in the building!

Residents and guests at Prestbury Beaumont enjoyed an afternoon with the ‘King’ as part their Elvis birthday celebrations.  Everyone was treated to a live music performance by Elvis impersonator, Dave Bushell who performed a selection of classic hits including Suspicious Minds.   Residents joined in with the singing, and clapped along as our Guest Elvis performed his finale song Burning Love. The hospitality team at the home also provided a spread of sweet and savoury treats for guests to enjoy during the show.

General Manager, Maureen Southern said, “Our residents and guests had a wonderful day singing along with the wonderful performers. We do our best to provide a wide range of activities and entertainment at Prestbury Beaumont as part of the lifestyle enrichment programme for residents, and this was one of our favourites!”

One resident said “I haven’t heard some of these songs in many years. The classics never go out of style!”  The afternoon was a great success and afterwards they had their photos taken.
