Activities at Prestbury Beaumont Care Community

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Life at Prestbury Beaumont Care Community

Gentleman's Club

This month at Prestbury Beaumont, we have started our Gentleman’s Club!

Our varied life enrichment program aims to support residents to do activities they loved to do earlier in their lives.

Alan in particular, loved socialising in his local pub after work with a pint of bitter! We were more than happy to oblige and had a lovely afternoon out!

Sponsored walk raises monies for charity

Residents supported by staff at Prestbury Beaumont Care Community in Prestbury, Macclesfield put the ‘fun’ into ‘fundraising’ with their sponsored walk for Cancer Research!

Residents supported by staff and Lucy from Prestbury Physiotherapy Practice, took it in turns to walk laps of our homes boardwalk. The boardwalk was marked by balloons at five metre intervals, totalling one hundred metres! Between them, our Residents walked a total of one thousand and fifty metres!

Craft Sessions

Our residents really enjoy handicraft sessions, with Autumn approaching; we decided to utilize the pinecones from around our home gardens.

Together with our maintenance team, we were able to split the pinecones to make flowers for our residents to paint.

We will continue this project throughout September with the end aim to make autumn wreaths for our homes notice board!

Learning French

This month our residents have had a fantastic introduction to learning French!

Some of our residents were able to recall the language beautifully, despite not speaking it for a number of years!

Supporting and improving language skills our residents have  is an integral part of our life enrichment program at Prestbury Beaumont. we also have residents that have never spoken French, so they were able to learn something new and make friends along the way! We are really looking forward to our next session with Liz!

Afternoon tea in the garden

At Prestbury Beaumont; we have a varied life enrichment program. We aim to support residents to continue to do the things they have always done, as well as trying new things.

We aim to be inclusive of all capabilities and take into account individual preferences when planning our weekly activities schedule; drawing on Residents feedback.

Today, we have been busy enjoying the sunshine! We had a lovely coffee afternoon with poetry, ice creams and cakes over a refreshing cup of tea! Our residents really enjoy reciting and recalling their favourite poets from their childhoods and beyond!

Autumnal crafts

Did you know that our residents can take part in weekly handicraft sessions such as art, flower arranging, cookery, knitting, sewing clubs and art classes?

These sessions increase creativity and stimulate the development of new skills. This week, for example, we hosted a lovely pine cone crafting session; which was truly enjoyed by all and put a smile on everyone’s face.

Our project is to eventually make autumn wreaths, although it didn’t seem appropriate today with the barmy weather!
