Activities at Prestbury Beaumont Care Community

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Residents enjoy Space Week

’This month, we celebrated Space Week in our home by building our very own solar system to display in the home! Using papier mache and balloons, we learnt about each planet, the varying sizes and fun facts surrounding the great planets in our milky way, then painted and decorated them. Residents and staff helped throughout the week to great this great display piece which is now hanging in the main lounge for all to admire. A great week of creativity and learning for our residents, with lots of discussion about the discovery of space and what could be living out there!

Residents enjoy Harvest crafts

Harvest Festival Fun – it’s amazing what you can make with salt dough! Our residents and activities team got together to make, model and paint these beautiful harvest fruit baskets from salt dough, along with hand painted autumn leaves. Well done to everyone who got involved!

Residents have 'latte' fun for Macmillan

Staff and residents at Prestbury Beaumont Care Community in Prestbury held a charity coffee morning on 25th September to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Prestbury Beaumont’s coffee morning was a big success – they managed to raise £100.00 and, most importantly, everyone had a lot of fun doing it!  Due Covid-19 restrictions, residents’ families had to utilise zoom to take part in the fundraiser, however this worked very effectively, therefore families and friends could still be a part of the fun!

Residents get butterflies

The Arts and Crafts afternoon challenge was to make paper butterflies !

Using the internet to download coloured butterfly templates we added some extra colours and  “hey presto “ a host of butterflies now decorate our home.

Home steeped in local history

Prestbury Beaumont Care Community in Prestbury, part of Barchester Healthcare are situated in Collar House, Prestbury which celebrates this year it’s 240th anniversary since being built.

Originally built and owned by the Horden Family dating from the 1780’s then subsequently used to house tenant farmers before being transformed by various “gentleman“ owners until the early part of the 20th century when it was bought by the Waterhouse dynasty whose Edwin Waterhouse, one of the founders of Price Waterhouse the global accountants, resided.

During the Second World War it was annexed to St Mary’s Hospital Manchester due to bombing fears and many of those born in Collar House at that time still come back to take a look at this remarkable house.  Current residents and care staff still enjoy some of the original features and extensive gardens.

Home gets mow-tivated

Prestbury Beaumont Care Community volunteers donned their gardening gear to bring the homes allotment back to life. Volunteers Dave and Phil from the local charity Food4Macc, which promotes home grown produce, supported in the Beaumont’s own allotment space in their extensive grounds to provide the home kitchen and local food banks with fresh vegetables and flowers. This year though with Covid19 disrupting work on the allotment it is being brought back to life for late summer planting.
