Activities at Prestbury Beaumont Care Community

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Home support local food bank

Prestbury Beaumont care Community in Prestbury recently presented its local food bank, the Pantry, situated in Macclesfield with a donation of much needed supplies for the second month.

The care home has been donating home-baked goods such as tarts, chocolate cake and biscuits to the food bank every week since November 2020, something the residents have felt brings more meaning to baking in the home and have enjoyed being able to help those who need it, even from a distance. Well done to everyone who got involved once again!

Residents enjoy book club

Residents took part in our weekly book club this morning! Reading is a brilliant way for our residents to keep their minds active as well as being fun and relaxing. Marjorie has been making her way through the stories of Sherlock Holmes over the past few weeks, which she enjoys most as she likes mystery stories.

International Flower Day

Happy international flower day! Although the weather has not been quite good enough for us to get out in our gardens, our residents celebrated the day by creating these beautiful paper flowers.    We look forward to planting some real flowers in the warmer months, but for now these will make a beautiful addition to our home. Well done to everyone involved!

Home receive vaccinations

Staff and residents at Prestbury Beaumont were delighted to have our vaccinations today, right here in our very own home!  This has lifted everyone’s spirits in what has been a very challenging year. We are proud to be a part of this next phase to ensure the most vulnerable are protected.   Thank you to the doctors and nurses who ensured the day ran smoothly and made this possible!

Residents have an Ephinany

Barchester’s Prestbury Beaumont Care Community, in Prestbury, celebrated Three Kings Day, or Epiphany, on 6 January in style by baking and eating a special Epiphany cake, traditionally called galette de rois, in French.

Epiphany, or Twelfth Night, marks the day that the three Kings arrived at Jesus’ birthplace bearing gifts for the new infant.  Epiphany means reveal, the day that Jesus was revealed to the world.  Twelfth Night is twelve days after the birth of Jesus on December 25, this is how long it is said to have taken the three Kings to travel to find baby Jesus.

General Manager, Cath Richie said: “Epiphany is a very special day in the Christian calendar and a brilliant way to brighten up the first week of January when everyone is feeling a little flat.  Along with our activities co-ordinator, Olivia Falkner, our residents made some delicious pastries for us to share, as well as making one for donation to our local food bank, The Pantry in Macclesfield.  It was a lovely way to lift our spirits and have a little celebration.
