Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Masterclass in flowers at Prestbury

Staff and residents at Barchester’s Prestbury Beaumont care home in were treated to an interactive virtual floristry masterclass courtesy of Master Florist, Michal Kowalski, from Blooming Haus. 

Blooming Haus started with a small pop-up shop in Chelsea.  They have since blossomed spectacularly on to the floristry scene as ‘floral engineers’, carving themselves an outstanding reputation as one of the UK’s most innovative floral design studios. The company is the vision of Master Florist, Michal Kowalski and his business partner, Michael Dariane. The pair bring a completely fresh approach to floristry and their ambition to push the boundaries of traditional floristry has laid the foundations of Blooming Haus’ success to date.

Trip to Redesmere to feed the ducks

Staff and residents at Prestbury Beaumont Care Community in Prestbury were celebrating being able to go on short excursions again as lockdown restrictions ease across the country.  Residents are now able to go on a short trip to outdoor spaces without having to isolate on their return.

Residents from Prestbury Beaumont Care Community enjoyed a long-awaited trip to Redesmere Lake where they were able to walk along the lake and feed the ducks. 

Cath Richie, General Manager at Prestbury Beaumont Care Community commented: “It is absolutely wonderful to be able to take our residents out for trips again.  We have all been waiting for this day and we are so thankful it is finally here.  Our residents have enjoyed all sorts of different entertainment during lockdown but nothing beats some fresh air and a change of scenery to blow away the cobwebs.”

Residents enjoy cookery demo

To celebrate National Vegetarian Week, staff and residents at Barchester’s Prestbury Beaumont Care Community in Pretsbury were treated to an interactive virtual cookery demo courtesy of chef, Alex Connell, from Vegetarian for Life.

Chef Alex whipped up some tasty, healthy vegetarian snacks in a live, interactive cookery demo.  Much to residents’ delight, Prestbury Beaumont’s head chef Nicky Barnard, had prepared the same recipes so that residents could try all the dishes. Residents sampled delicious, light and summery veggie dishes including Borlotti bean and dill pate, Greek fritters with Tzatziki and Coronation 'chicken' pastries. All finished off with a sweet and simple but totally yummy banana bread.

Mental Health Awareness Week

Staff and residents at Barchester’s Prestbury Beaumont care community in Prestbury were treated to an armchair work out courtesy of the Green Goddess, Diana Moran, and Shackleton’s furniture company, followed by a mindfulness session led by Shackleton’s Emma Raybould.

Diana rose to fame as a glamorous fitness guru on BBC’s Breakfast Time in the 1980’s and has made an outstanding contribution to improving the health and wellbeing of people in the UK. She now brings that experience to Shackletons as their Health and Wellness Adviser.

Pizza Masterclass

Residents of Prestbury Beaumont in Prestbury recently enjoyed a pizza making afternoon. The Residents enjoyed creating their own wonderful pizza creations and experimenting with different toppings to add to the flavour.

The activities team and Residents gathered in the home’s activities area and set to the task of creating their own mouth-watering pizzas as part of the homes weekly and popular ‘Baking Masterclass’.  The homes chef then popped them in the oven with everyone enjoying the finished result!  What’s your favourite topping?

Positi-tea at Prestbury Beaumont

Prestbury Beaumont Care Community in Prestbury marked the Queen’s 95th birthday on April 21st in style by brewing up a storm for National Tea Day and having a royal afternoon tea party.

Residents and staff whipped up a batch of fresh scones to wash down with a selection of different teas.  Residents took part in royal and tea-themed sessions including virtual tours of royal palaces, watching old clips of royal tours and occasions, a royal quiz, and a ‘guess the tea game’ where they blind tested their tea knowledge.
