Activities at Prestbury Beaumont Care Community

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Life at Prestbury Beaumont Care Community

Community supports home with allotment patch

With the help of our friends Food4Macc our allotment is being prepared for the growing season.  The charity Food4Macc make sure everything is ship shape for a bountiful crop of potatoes, beans and onions for use in our kitchen. Any vegetables left over are then distributed to local food banks.  We will share our journey as things come to harvest.

Staff and Residents 100% fully vaccinated

All staff and residents at Barchester’s Prestbury Beaumont Care Community, in Prestbury, are delighted to have received both doses of their Covid-19 vaccinations at their home, after what has been a very challenging year for everyone.

General Manager, Cath Richie, said: “We’ve all been through such a difficult time and this feels like such a big step on the way to getting back to some normality. I am so proud of the team and how they have worked together and continue to do so and we are all so grateful to be prioritised to receive the vaccine first.  Now that everyone in the home has had both doses, we can start to work towards getting life in the home back to a new normal, but we know there is a lot of work to do in order to get there.”

Wear it purple at Prestbury Beaumont

Prestbury Beaumont Care Community in Prestbury joined in with celebrating Wear It Purple Day on the 26th March along with hundreds of thousands of other people across the globe.

Wear It Purple Day was started in Canada by Cassidy Megan, after being diagnosed with epilepsy aged seven. She organised the first awareness day in 2008, initially just for her school friends. Wear It Purple Day is international, so schools and businesses, and of course care homes, worldwide get involved by buying wristbands, hosting bake-offs, and, of course, wearing purple.

The residents and staff wore their best purple attire, bringing colour and conversation to the home. Many staff and residents had never heard of the campaign before, proving how important days such as this are for raising awareness of conditions such as Epilepsy.

Home green for St Patrick's Day

Residents and staff at Prestbury Beaumont Care Community in Prestbury celebrated all things Irish for St Patrick’s Day this week. The home was decorated with shamrocks and everyone got dressed up in green to mark the day.

Held on March 17th, Saint Patrick's Day actually observes the death of St Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland, but the day has come to be a huge celebration of Irish heritage and culture.

Staff and residents at the home marked the day by making shamrock bunting for around the home, listening to Irish music and baking special green cupcakes for donation to the local food bank, all washed down with Guinness or an Irish whiskey.

Mother's Day

Our residents crafted beautiful Mother’s Day cards for their children today! Many of our residents are Mothers and Grandmothers and keeping connected to our families is particularly hard at the moment.

Small tokens of appreciation, such as these cards, help our residents feel close to their families and let their families know how much they care!
