Activities at Mount Tryon Care Home

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Life at Mount Tryon Care Home

Perfect Pottery

With great thanks to our community link with, Torre Abbey, we had a wonderful afternoon making clay creations. Residents made their own designs, including a fruit bowl, a vase, pots and flowers. In our next session, we will be painting them and then looking forward to seeing them being displayed proudly in their rooms and around the home.

BFG Exhibition

BFG Exhibition

We were able to experience the BFG in Pictures, a touring exhibition from House of Illustration, here at the home.

The fantastic staff at Torre Abbey brought the exhibition to us and we were able to see the original illustrations as reproductions of Quentin Blake's illustrations for Roald Dahls much loved story.

We look forward to spending more time with Torre Abbey when they visit us next month.

Celebrating 10 Years

Celebrating 10 Years

Everyone at Mount Tryon Care Home congratulated Sheila Wilson, one of our healthcare assistants, on her 10 years of service with Barchester.

Sheila was presented with an award, given to her by  Sharon Goldsworthy, General Manager of the home. Congratulations and well deserved for all her hard work!

Let's Talk Dementia

Let's Talk Dementia

Here at Mount Tryon we are lucky to have a support from the Purple Angel and to be a part of a dementia awareness campaign.

We tried out a new board game called 'Let's Talk Dementia'. The board game is an interactive way of engaging with people and helping them to understand dementia better, and it is a step towards building more inclusive communities where everyone can feel welcomed and safe.

We look forward to using this to support families and loved ones. If you would like us to sit down with you to get the most of it, please don't hesitate to let us know.

Torquay Bay

Every week we like to travel with our mini bus and visit various destinations. Recently we went to Torquay sea front and enjoyed the beautiful view from the coast. We had a delicious ice cream at the harbour while admiring the lovely sunny weather. Everyone is excited for our next trip.

The Magic Table

We are delighted to announce that we have just had a Magic Table installed, which is an interactive light projector, designed to support residents living with dementia by keeping them engaged through specialised games.

The light projections respond to hand and arm movement, allowing residents to stay stimulated and, most of all, have fun!

You can read more about it on this page.
