Activities at Mount Tryon Care Home

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Annmarie Scourfield

Activities Coordinator

Hi, My name is Annmarie and I am the Lead Activities Coordinator here at Mount Tryon Care Home. I am passionate about supporting our residents and supporting them to take part in person centered activities. It is important to me that we are encouraging our residents to do the things they enjoy and build a happy, sociable environment for them.

Life at Mount Tryon Care Home

Friendly Competition

There was a friendly game of dominoes taking place between one of our lady residents and a Senior Carer. As you can see, it was all smiles and much fun was had. It was a jolly respite before a spot of lunch—socially distanced, of course.

Bulb Planting

Here at Mount Tryon, we have a few keen gardeners who wanted to plant some spring bulbs in tubs and around the garden.

Brian, our resident amateur gardener, decided he wanted to make a plan for one of our raised planters. We are awaiting the design, so we can plant further bulbs and, come spring, we should have a lovely flower display.

Wish Tree

We have introduced a wish tree here at Mount Tryon and asked the residents if they could be granted a small wish, what would it be?

One of our residents wished for a new pair of shoes, which we were able to grant. So, we chose a pair of shoes online and had them delivered to the home. She was absolutely over the moon with them and showed them off proudly to everyone.

Cruise Ship Day

Currently, Torbay has 4 cruise ship liners moored in the bay, so we decided, as we couldn’t get out to see them, we would hold a cruise ship-themed day.

We decorated our restaurant nautical-style for the day, dressed the tables tropical and had a Captain's table. Our captain for the day was our lovely Head Chef, Sue Forshaw.

They had a lovely 3 course lunch with prosecco. Residents put on their best daywear and relaxed in the sunshine, drinking mocktails, taking selfies with props, tropical fishing, jokes, listening to cruise ship singer, Jane McDonald, and having a go at karaoke themselves. Everyone slept well that night!

Macmillan Coffee Morning

Residents and staff of Mount Tryon wanted to do something for the big Macmillan Coffee Morning, as we are unable to allow any visitors on site.

We decided to hold a cake sale at the bottom of our driveway. Residents staff and family members baked and decorated a vast amount of gorgeous cakes.

On the day, the sun was shining and we had quite a few people passing by who very kindly donated. We raised a total of £117.12.

Well done and thank you to everyone involved!

Music & Movement

We really enjoyed our afternoon of music and movement at Mount Tryon. We played music instruments sometimes in rhythm with the music. We also gave the pom poms a good workout. Some of our residents had a lovely time dancing, while others pretended the shakers were trumpets. We finished the session off with a refreshing cup of teas and a slice of cake.
