Activities at Milford House Care Home
The Activities Team at Milford House are dedicated to providing a range of stimulating activities for both groups and individuals, that promote both physical and mental wellbeing based upon resident's interests both past and present. As a member of the National Activity Providers Association (NAPA) the team are always striving to incorporate best practice into the array of activities on offer and to enhance their own skills through qualification with NAPA to NVQ Level 3 in Activities Provision. The team combine weekly activity favourites such as sherry mornings with special events, musical entertainments, slide shows, outings in our own mini-bus as well as interacting with local community groups such as Plain Arts Salisbury to showcase resident art and creativity and others who come into the home to interact with our residents. Milford House also benefits from a strong network of volunteers who support the Activity Team as they deliver their programme and who, along with friends and relatives, are always welcome to come and join in our sessions and outings.
Kylie Colman
Kylie has three years experience as an Activities Co-Ordinator and has loved every moment! Having recently joined the Milford team she is looking forward to getting to know all our residents and to delivering, alongside the rest of the team, an interesting and diverse programme of activities. She loves being outside and in particular organising trips out of the home and activities and events that take place in our gorgeous gardens.

Life at Milford House Care Home
Shady Bower
Here at Milford, we are really fortunate to have wonderful gardens that surround the home. There is something for everyone, even when the temperature rises! Recently, we found a shady spot under the Indian Bean Tree and next to the fernery, where we were able to relax and enjoy a cup of tea and watch the comings and goings at the front of the home. It was a perfect summer's afternoon!
Policing the Aisles
Here at Milford, we try to get out every week for a bit of shopping and a cup of tea or coffee. As it was one of the windiest June days for years, we visited a local superstore and one resident spotted a police officer walking the aisles, who stopped for a friendly chat.
Employee of the Month - May
We are delighted to announce that Milford House's Employee of the month for May was Liang Guo, pictured here receiving his award from our General Manager, Phil Chapman. Liang is a valued member of our Housekeeping Team and has been at Milford for 10 years this month. Liang was nominated for his award for consistently providing a high quality of domestic services around the home and for always going the extra mile when undertaking his duties. He received a certificate and a voucher to celebrate this achievement.
Sunshine at Last!
The sun has finally arrived just in time for the Chelsea Flower Show and, here at Milford, we made the most of it by getting out into the garden. As always, nothing is perfect - it was so warm that we had to make sure that everyone was able to find their own little spot of shade whilst others were going around the gardens. However, this was no hardship, as it gave everyone a chance to enjoy the view, which featured our gorgeous white wisteria and the gentle warm breezes that wafted the wonderful scents of the garden towards us.
Flowery Fun
In celebration of the Chelsea Flower Show, we are having a week of all things flowery here at Milford. Residents collected petals and leaves and then turned them into gorgeous transparencies, which we are going to decorate the home with. Later in the week, we will be looking at all the latest from the Chelsea Flower Show and we have even had a session about the language of flowers – all with the backdrop of some lovely summer sunshine.
Spring Song
We have been delighted to welcome Amanda again to Milford so that she can sing for us. It is always a pleasure to spend the afternoon with her and, as she is one of our regular entertainers, we always look forward to her return visits.
