Following significant investment, Milford House has a brand new look! The appearance of our home has been carefully designed with the people we care for in mind. Our bright new reception area is the perfect spot for socialising or taking part in one of our many daily activities. Our beautiful new dining room is a wonderful place to enjoy a three-course home-made lunch and our new bedrooms are comfortable and tastefully decorated. Why not take a look at our virtual tour to see our brand new look? Or alternatively, pop in to our home to see for yourself!

Originally built as a private home for the Earl of Ilchester, Milford House has been refurbished and extended, providing an attractive mix of old architectural charm and purpose-built accommodation. Located in the historic cathedral city of Salisbury, the home has plenty of local amenities but is within easy reach of beautiful countryside. The home offers 24-hour nursing care and personal support to older people who require it.

Whilst care must always be of paramount importance we strive to provide the highest standard of services in all areas of life for our residents - from catering, where our chefs tempt with delicious meals, through to the environment in which residents live, which is genuinely outstanding. We offer a wide range of activities, varied to ensure they appeal to the diverse need, likes and dislikes of people living in our home and offered as a result of consultation with the residents.

All of this is provided in a friendly, homely environment in which our residents and relatives can relax and enjoy life.

We would very much like to show you round. Why not drop in – or call us if you would like any advice.

Philip Chapman

General Manager

I have worked in a variety of roles in the health and social care sector, starting as a Care Assistant in 1988. I qualified as an RGN in 1995, gaining experience in a busy ward environment, working as a community nurse and finally entering management in 2000.

The majority of my management roles have been in elderly care but I have also enjoyed positions in community mental health services, physical disabilities and children’s services.

Barchester believes in continually improving the quality of life for the people in their care. As a professional, I am passionate about continually improving and delivering the highest standards in care and quality of life for residents.

I believe that Barchester will support me to guide and motivate my team to deliver care and support to residents in a way that they gain the most benefit.

My philosophy to care has never changed; respecting people’s values and putting them at the centre of their care is paramount. Residents are equal partners in planning, developing and monitoring care to make sure it meets their needs.

Our care

Milford House is a nursing home that can cater to residents' general nursing needs, focusing on person-centred care that reflects individual requirements and wishes, whilst encouraging those we support to be as independent as possible. In addition to our own team, we draw on support from a range of other professionals and services, such as chiropodists, dietitians, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, opticians, audiologists and anyone else we feel would be of benefit to the people we care for. Ensuring that residents feel safe and supported is at the heart of everything we do and, as our recent CQC report highlighted, Milford House is a "marvelous place."
