Our wonderful team comprises nurses, carers, activities coordinators, chefs, housekeepers and more. These people are here to ensure that residents enjoy their time at the home and are supported to live life to the fullest. Meet some of our staff below:
Hi, my name is Marie-Therese, and I am the General Manager here at Milford House. Welcome to our website!
I am a long standing member of staff and I'm a dual qualified nurse in both general and mental health disciplines. I bring my broad range of experience within both the NHS and private sectors, as well as my passion for elderly care into my every day work. I am committed to the delivery of holistic care and bring my general life skills and interests to ensure that the whole team at Milford House deliver the highest level of care to those we support.
Hello, my name is Emma and I have been a Registered Nurse for over 30 years, working in a variety of settings in both the private sector and the NHS. I have happily been a part of the Milford House Team since 2009. The experience acquired during my nursing career has strengthened my belief in a collaborative team approach and in providing personalised and gold standard care for the residents who have chosen to make Milford House their home.
Hayley has been the Catering Manager since 2002. She holds level 3 NVQ in Patisserie and Confectionary, Kitchen Supervisory as well as Advanced Food Hygiene. Hayley’s cakes are legendary here at Milford House and are much admired at meal times and at the various activities and events that we hold here.
Her main roles are menu planning and delivering wholesome and tantalising home cooked food for our residents and their guests. Hayley and her team are proud to have been awarded 5 out of 5 stars ‘excellent’ standard food hygiene by the Environmental Health Department.
I have worked in the care sector for over 15 years, and I am responsible for looking after the domestic and laundry teams here at Milford, as well as working with other key personnel to maintain the appearance and décor of our lovely home.
Previous to taking on this role, I was the Activities Coordinator for over five years and retain overall oversight of the activities team. I am passionate about ensuring that the team delivers a varied and interesting programme of group and individual activities that promote the overall well-being of residents and meet their needs and interests.
Working with the residents, the activities, domestic and laundry teams, other staff, families, friends and volunteers, the aim is to make Milford House a home that offers a comfortable, welcoming, inclusive, vibrant, fun and supportive environment to live in.
I have a background in the hospitality industry as well as the care sector and I am qualified to NAPA NVQ Level 3 in Activity Provision and, through our membership of NAPA, committed to ensuring that best practice and the latest developments in activity provision are incorporated into our daily work at Milford
My own particular interests are the arts, photography, crafts, gardening and the outdoors, and I enjoy incorporating these elements into the presentation of the home and the delivery of our activities where appropriate.
Michelle joined Milford House in January 2008 and is responsible for all financial and administrative affairs for the home be it financial, staff legislation compliance and payroll or invoicing. She is available to answer all queries and assist residents and relatives at all times. In addition Michelle is very involved in life at Milford and her office is rarely without at least one resident enjoying a cup of tea with her!! When she is not at work she likes to spend time with her horses and dogs.
Kelly has worked at Milford House since 2006 in a variety of roles and is now a full time member of the office team. She is a fountain of knowledge concerning all things Milford and if we don't know where to find something or what to do, she usually has the answers! When not at Milford, Kelly likes to take the odd quick trip to Spain to recharge her batteries, and her favourite Milford job is organising the Christmas party.
Mary is a dedicated member of the Milford activities team and holds an NVQ Level 2 Certificate in Activity Provision, which is accredited by NAPA (National Association of Activity Providers). Mary loves finding ideas for new activities that can be incorporated into our daily programme for both individuals and groups. She lives locally and has a busy life combining her work at Milford and looking after her family, cat and chickens.
Following a career in retail, Milford is delighted to welcome Jan to the Activities team. Jan was born in Scotland but has lived in Salisbury since she was five, so she definitely counts as a local girl! Jan loves chatting to people, entertaining and making people feel at home, as well as preparing endless cups of tea – a vital attribute for life at Milford House. Jan is enthusiastic about bringing a varied activities programme to those we support.
Bill has been with Barchester since May 2013 and with the help of his assistant, Kamil, is responsible for the upkeep of the home and providing a safe and comfortable environment for residents, staff and guests. Outside of work he enjoys music, in particular, drumming in a band and he is very involved with charity work.
Kamil works closely with the Maintenance Manager to keep everything in the home running smoothly and in good repair. He enjoys the variety of the job, as no two days are ever the same. He loves talking to residents and manages to teach everyone the odd Polish word every now and again and is always keen to tell us about the traditions of his homeland.
