Activities at Milford House Care Home

The Activities Team at Milford House are dedicated to providing a range of stimulating activities for both groups and individuals, that promote both physical and mental wellbeing based upon resident's interests both past and present. As a member of the National Activity Providers Association (NAPA) the team are always striving to incorporate best practice into the array of activities on offer and to enhance their own skills through qualification with NAPA to NVQ Level 3 in Activities Provision. The team combine weekly activity favourites such as sherry mornings with special events, musical entertainments, slide shows, outings in our own mini-bus as well as interacting with local community groups such as Plain Arts Salisbury to showcase resident art and creativity and others who come into the home to interact with our residents. Milford House also benefits from a strong network of volunteers who support the Activity Team as they deliver their programme and who, along with friends and relatives, are always welcome to come and join in our sessions and outings.

Life at Milford House Care Home

Brownie Blooms

Brownie Blooms

Residents at Milford House have been enjoying the delights of these pots of mini daffodils, courtesy of the 1st Bishopsdown Brownies, who gave each resident a pot of bulbs for Christmas. They have really been something to look forward to and, on days when the weather has not been so kind, they have reminded us that spring is just around the corner, and have lighted up areas of the home with their cheerfulness. Thank you Brownies!

A Valentine with Elvis

A Valentine with Elvis

Residents enjoyed a fabulous Valentine's tea at Milford House in the company of Elvis, who sang a host of suitably romantic songs while handing out red roses to everyone. It was a lovely afternoon and Elvis had us all tapping our toes, clapping our hands and singing along to all his greatest hits. This was all in addition to having our lovely red roses to bring home with us!

A Hearty Valentine's

A Hearty Valentine's

Residents at Milford got into the mood for Valentine's Day by making some lovely hearts to decorate some of our notice boards. Each had their own interpretation and the results were both colourful and lovely to look at.

We are 'Alive!'

We are 'Alive!'

Residents at Milford House enjoyed a thoroughly interactive hour of fun with Paul and Malcolm from ‘Alive!’ The hour incorporated music, movement, quizzes, poems and a lot more, and this activity is a firm favourite with those we support. ‘Alive!’ have been coming to Milford monthly for over 7 years to deliver these sessions, which are something we all really look forward to.

Shining Through the Gloom

Shining Through the Gloom

A dull and wet January afternoon was brightened to no end by the presence of Amanda who came in to sing for residents. Amanda is one of our favourite entertainers and, adorning her gorgeous, flowery dress, she had everyone clapping and singing along to her repertoire of familiar and favourite songs. We can’t wait for her to come back again!

Jacqui is now a Care Practitioner

Here at Milford House, we are delighted to congratulate Jacqui Roff for attaining all the required qualifications to be become a Care Practitioner. Pictured here receiving her certificate from Margaret Ndanga, our Operations Manager, Jacqui will be putting her newly-acquired skills into immediate effect. Attaining this qualification has meant a lot of hard work on Jacqui’s part and all of the residents and staff at Milford House wish her all the best in her new role.
