Activities at Milford House Care Home

The Activities Team at Milford House are dedicated to providing a range of stimulating activities for both groups and individuals, that promote both physical and mental wellbeing based upon resident's interests both past and present. As a member of the National Activity Providers Association (NAPA) the team are always striving to incorporate best practice into the array of activities on offer and to enhance their own skills through qualification with NAPA to NVQ Level 3 in Activities Provision. The team combine weekly activity favourites such as sherry mornings with special events, musical entertainments, slide shows, outings in our own mini-bus as well as interacting with local community groups such as Plain Arts Salisbury to showcase resident art and creativity and others who come into the home to interact with our residents. Milford House also benefits from a strong network of volunteers who support the Activity Team as they deliver their programme and who, along with friends and relatives, are always welcome to come and join in our sessions and outings.

Partying with Dave

Partying with Dave

Residents at Milford House, with their guests from our sister home in Andover, Rothsay Grange, enjoyed a great afternoon of entertainment with Dave Dawson, who sang a range of favourite songs and, together with his ‘guest’ singers, kept us all well and truly entertained for the entire afternoon. It was lovely to have our Rothsay friends with us, as they too have Dave along to sing and it was great to share the experience.

Rosie Scores a Perfect 10

Rosie Scores a Perfect 10

We are so lucky here at Milford House to have a large proportion of staff members who have been with us for a number of years, which offers residents a sense of stability. With this in mind, Phil Chapman, our General Manager, was delighted to present Rosie Hoque with her 10 year Long Service Award. During her time here with us, Rosie has had experience working with the activities, domestic and kitchen teams and has made a valuable contribution to the day-to-day running of the home.

Seen here with General Manager, Phil Chapman, receiving her award, Louise, who is an experienced carer, is currently our Hostess and plays an important role in ensuring that residents enjoy their dining experience as much as possible. We look forward to celebrating Louise’s next 10 years at Milford!

Milford House General Manager, Phil Chapman, was delighted to present the Employee of the Month award for June to Mary Hamshere (both pictured here). Mary was nominated for her achievements in not only gaining her Level 2 NVQ in Activities Provision from NAPA (National Activities Providers Association), but also for her dedicated approach to the provision of activities within Milford House and always striving to provide activities for those we support and constantly seeking to provide an inclusive and varied service.

Wonderful Work Experience

Wonderful Work Experience

Here at Milford House, we are regularly asked if local students can visit the home for work experience and are delighted to welcome them into the ‘Milford family’. Most recently, we have been delighted to welcome Olivia who, during the week she has been with us, has worked alongside the activities team as we deliver our regular varied programme of events over the course of the week.

Olivia has really got to know a number of residents and joined in enthusiastically with everything we have been doing. Hopefully we have given Olivia a real insight into how our home operates. We have loved having her and hope that she will pop in and see us from time to time.

Lee Knott Entertains

Lee Knott Entertains

Residents at Milford enjoyed a great afternoon’s entertainment with Lee Knott, who came and played his trumpet for us and sang some of our favourite songs. Lee is a regular at Milford and we all look forward to his visits as he always makes sure we have a fun time and has us all singing and humming along.
