Activities at Kingfisher Lodge Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Activities Lead

Hi, I am George and I am the Activities Lead here at Kingfisher Lodge. I have worked in healthcare for over 6 years and I have a passion for enriching the lives of the people in our home. We offer a wide variety of life enrichment activities within our home, from minibus trips and group outings all the way to spending some one on one time with our residents. If you pop into the home, the chances is you’ll find me, so come say hello!

Life at Kingfisher Lodge Care Home

Avon Valley Lakes

Avon Valley Lakes

Residents, along with Vicky & Julie, our activities team, had a great afternoon out at Avon Valley Lakes. It was wonderful to feel the fresh air, take in the scenery and meet some of the wildlife!

Employee of the Month - March

Employee of the Month - March

Well done to Karen, our Head Chef, who was named as the Employee of the Month for March. Karen is hard working, committed and dedicated to ensuring that residents are always served nutritious and tasty meals. General Manager, Clare, can be seen here presenting Karen with her certificate.

Easter Egg Hunt

The rain didn’t put everyone off at Kingfisher Lodge, where friends and families of residents and staff all joined together to give the children, grandchildren and even great grandchildren a fun afternoon hunting for eggs around the home.

Everyone enjoyed seeing their little faces when they found eggs, which were hidden under residents' wheelchairs, in drawers, under tables and even under a resident's hat.

The Chefs had made plenty of homemade cakes for the hungry little hunters, which they really enjoyed and took home, along with all the presents they had won.

In total, we managed to raise a little over £114 – thank you to everyone who made this possible.

Goodbye & Good Luck!

Lewis Brown has recently finished his last day as a Kitchen Assistant here at Kingfisher Lodge. Lewis joined Barchester in October 2012, starting off as a Host.

He was a well-loved member of staff, always helping others out and was fantastic with the residents, who loved him dearly.

Goodbye and good luck, Lewis!

Mother's Day

Mother's Day

A big thank you to all our mums who worked on Mother’s Day here at Kingfisher Lodge. We surprised them with presents as a thank you for being here with us instead of at home with their children.

Music for the Mind

We are frequent visitors to 'Music for the Mind', which is held at 10:30 a.m. in St Dunstan’s Church hall on the second and fourth Thursday of each month.

Keynsham Dementia Action Alliance (DAA) were formed in December 2016 and their objective is to make the Keynsham and Saltford communities more aware and supportive of those affected by dementia, their families, friends and carers.

The DAA and their volunteers do a wonderful job organising these sessions, which have become more popular over the last 6 months.

All visitors can enjoy a friendly chat with other local people, a lovely hot drink and there is always plenty of biscuits and, very often, homemade cakes to enjoy as well.
