Activities at Kingfisher Lodge Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Activities Lead

Hi, I am George and I am the Activities Lead here at Kingfisher Lodge. I have worked in healthcare for over 6 years and I have a passion for enriching the lives of the people in our home. We offer a wide variety of life enrichment activities within our home, from minibus trips and group outings all the way to spending some one on one time with our residents. If you pop into the home, the chances is you’ll find me, so come say hello!

Pancake Day

Pancake Day was another good excuse for all the staff and residents at Kingfisher Lodge to join in together and have a great afternoon full of laughter and fun.

Residents and staff participated in a Pancake Day quiz, puzzles, word searches and, of course, a pancake flipping competition. The person who flipped their pancake the most times in 60 seconds was crowned the winner. Activities Assistant, Julie, won with a score of 52; a lot of pancakes hit the floor over the course of the afternoon.

Valentine's Day

We invited husbands and wives in to celebrate Valentine’s Day with residents, where they could enjoy a 3-course meal cooked by Head Chef, Karen Brickell.

They were treated to a wonderful menu of melon boats, soup or egg mayonnaise for starters; salmon or pork roast dinner for mains and delicious sticky toffee pudding or heart shaped meringues for dessert, with a glass or two of wine.

Everyone praised the chef for a wonderful meal and really enjoyed the company and atmosphere of the whole afternoon.

Did someone say 'ice cream'?

Did someone say 'ice cream'?

Activities Coordinator, Vicky, and a volunteer at Kingfisher Lodge spread the joy by handing out ice creams with flakes, sprinkles and sauce.

Our Special Guests

Our Special Guests

A bath ambulance crew stopped off at Kingfisher Lodge to enjoy a hot drink and piece of cake with Carol, our Regional Director! It was towards the end of their shift and they really appreciated having a pick-me-up to keep them going, so we sent them off with a few pieces of cake for the road!

Church Service

Church Service

John, who is the husband of resident, Elsie, very kindly came in on Sunday to give a church service. Elsie’s son-in-law also accompanied John by playing the piano.
