Activities at Hunters Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Ben Sandall

Activities Coordinator

Hello I am Ben and I am the Activities Coordinator at Hunters.  I started working at Hunters as part of the hospitality team, but when a vacancy came up on the activities team I jumped at the opportunity.  I have seen how important a varied activities programme is and the team ensure we offer something for everyone including regular past times.

What's in the Bag

Today we played a game called "What's in the Bag?" Residents take it in turns to place their hand in the bag and have a guess at what the familiar item maybe. Today we had a selection of items including, a seashell, tennis ball and a cone. Residents use this as an opportunity reminisce with the items of different textures and sounds and share their memories.

Spanish Fans

Hunters residents took part in an arts and crafts session to make Spanish fans ready for our Spanish theme day at the end of the month. Everybody really got into the spirit of things making their own decorative fan whilst enjoying each other’s company.

Preparing for Summer

It is full steam ahead for summer, today our gardener Chrissie has been busy sprucing up the raised flower beds ready for some summer planting. Wherever possible the residents enjoy being part of daily life in the home and this morning Chrissie was joined by resident Geoffrey who helped out by doing some painting. Although the temperatures aren’t quite Mediterranean just yet the sunshine was a welcome addition to a productive morning.

Employee of the Month

Congratulations to Mayuree from our House Keeping team who has been awarded Employee of the Month. Mayuree is always cheerful and helpful, making time for the residents bringing a smile wherever she goes. Employee of the Month is a way for staff, residents and families to show their appreciation to someone who they feel has gone that extra mile whilst working at Hunters. Mayuree received her reward from Resident Ambassador Bobby and Senior General Manager Ciprian Groza.

Welcome Return

It was pamper time at Hunters. Welcome back to Jennie Hunters fantastic hairdresser. One of the things the residents have really missed during lockdown is the chance to visit the hairdresser and look their best with a cut, wash and blow dry. Jennie was met by an enthusiastic crowd all eagerly waiting for her attention. It was certainly a very busy first day back.

Enjoying Spring Blooms

Although the mornings are still rather chilly the sun has been shining and warming things up at Hunters. The residents have been able to get outside and get some fresh air and enjoy the beautiful gardens at Hunters, which at the moment are full of colour with a wash of spring flowers.
