Activities at Hunters Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Ben Sandall

Activities Coordinator

Hello I am Ben and I am the Activities Coordinator at Hunters.  I started working at Hunters as part of the hospitality team, but when a vacancy came up on the activities team I jumped at the opportunity.  I have seen how important a varied activities programme is and the team ensure we offer something for everyone including regular past times.

That's Amore

Hunters celebrated all things Italian with our Italian themed day. Every month the residents choose an international cuisine to base our theme day around and this month it was the turn of Italy. Our Head Chef prepared and authentic Italian menu including delicious cannelloni and carbonara. To round things off the residents were entertained over a glass of prosecco by Neil Patterson who provided a musical tribute to the Italian American music of the Rat Pack.  It was such an enjoyable event, to see the performance there is a video on the Hunters Facebook page.

Italian Cookery

Preparations have begun for our Italian theme with homemade pizzas. Our ingredients included fresh basil, olives, tomato puree, mozzarella, parmesan and ciabatta bread. We took it in turns to add the toppings and share other favourite pizza ingredients. As British historian William Camden said; “The proof of the pudding is in the eating!” Resident’s thoroughly enjoyed making and eating their cooking.

Drive to Fairford

Residents enjoyed a mini bus trip to the beautiful town of Fairford. We drove up the High Street and over the bridge stopping for a cup of tea and sharing our memories of the Cotswolds. We saw many different animals on our drive, including horses, sheep and chickens.

Mighty Oaks......

Mighty Oaks grow from small acorns. Today we started work on Hunters sustainable garden and although we only made a small start planting salad and vegetable seeds we are hoping that by the end of the summer we will be able to enjoy some of the produce from our garden. The residents planted radish, lettuce, sweet corn and carrots to name but a few. They will be grown under cover until the seedlings are ready to be planted out in our vegetable plot.
