Amanda Short

General Manager

Hi, my name is Amanda Short and I am the General Manager here at White Lodge.

I have worked in elderly care since 1987 and at the young age of 17, in that time I have only ever worked in two care homes. It has been a very positive experience as well as learning many hard lessons along the way.  In 1999 I started work in a brand new care home which was an exciting time for all involved.  Over the sixteen years of being in that last home I had the fortune to be promoted up through the ranks resulting in the post of Home Manager which I held for the last nine years.  As we all know, this can be a challenging role at times but it is a role that can bring massive rewards and satisfaction.  Overall for me any role within care delivers the greatest potential when you are part of an effective team, I strongly believe in leading by example and turning the challenges that we will undoubtedly face into positive outcomes where all involved benefit.
