Activities at Hunters Care Home
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.
Ben Sandall
Hello I am Ben and I am the Activities Coordinator at Hunters. I started working at Hunters as part of the hospitality team, but when a vacancy came up on the activities team I jumped at the opportunity. I have seen how important a varied activities programme is and the team ensure we offer something for everyone including regular past times.

Life at Hunters Care Home
Drive around Cotswold Water Park
We are so enjoying our minibus trips out, this time a scenic drive through the Cotswold Water Park and South Cerney. The residents enjoyed afternoon tea whilst looking over the lake, there always seems to be something relaxing and soothing about being around water.
Hunters in Bloom
Today we have enjoyed creating floral displays across the home. Using many different types of flowers including, Roses, Coronations and Chrysanthemums we arranged the flowers in the baskets using oasis. The baskets of flowers have really brightened up our home and flower arranging is always a popular activity.
Garden Walks
We regularly go into our gardens for a morning walk, this week we have made sure we are outside in between the rain showers. The spring flowers are out including the blossom on our trees and we took time to look at the stunning colours of nature. The walk provides a much needed time in nature, taking in the fresh air and the beautiful gardens which surround our home.
Famous Faces
Today the Residents enjoyed the Famous Faces Quiz and a selection of drinks. Famous Faces are shown on cards and then the Residents with clip board and pen in hand write down their guess. Lots of fun had by all.
Horses add to Stroll around the Grounds
At Hunters we are so lucky to be surrounded by such beautiful countryside. For the residents from our Memory Lane Community a walk outside has so many benefits including sensory stimulation. Today we had the added bonus of a curious visitor from next doors stables who came to the fence for a good scratch. The resident really enjoyed the opportunity to get up so close to the beautiful horse and oblige by giving it plenty of fuss.
Spanish Day
Yesterday despite the weather Hunters had a distinct Mediterranean feel with all things Spanish. Our Head Chef Leo prepared an authentic Spanish menu including a delicious seafood paella. To round things off the residents enjoyed an afternoon of classical Spanish guitar provided by Steve Franks, whilst sipping a glass of sangria.
