Activities at Hunters Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Ben Sandall

Activities Coordinator

Hello I am Ben and I am the Activities Coordinator at Hunters.  I started working at Hunters as part of the hospitality team, but when a vacancy came up on the activities team I jumped at the opportunity.  I have seen how important a varied activities programme is and the team ensure we offer something for everyone including regular past times.

Presentation to Duke of Gloucester Playgroup

During the Easter Holidays Hunters held its Easter and spring drawing competition for local children to enter with the chance to win a prize for the best entries. The residents had great fun choosing the winners and today we were able to deliver the prizes in person in the Pre-school category to the Children of The Duke of Gloucester Nursery Group.

The children were given certificates of eggscellence along with some delicious chocolate treats as a reward for all of their hard work. Senior General Manager Ciprian Groza and Steve Chamberlain Activities Coordinator made the trip to deliver the prizes in person.  A big thank you to Carole for allowing us to come along it was lovely to see the children’s smiling faces.

Cup of Tea with a View

It was perfect, a cup of tea whilst enjoying the view. This morning at Hunters the residents enjoyed a scenic drive to Crickley Hill where they enjoyed a cup of tea whilst taking in the beautiful surroundings. From the comfort of the mini bus the residents could see the Malvern Hills, with the Welsh Mountains rolling away into the distance.

Woodland Walk Sculpture Trail

Hunters are planning to transform our woodland walkway into a sculpture Trail. The residents spend many enjoyable hours walking the beautiful grounds here at Hunters, but recently we decided to a add a new feature to the walk by adding a sculpture trail where residents and visitors can take on the challenge of trying to locate the art work in the garden whilst enjoying their daily walk. Klaudia one of our Care Practitioners here at Hunters has set the ball rolling by creating three beautiful Fairy Houses which the residents will paint in an arts and crafts session ready to take pride of place on the walkway and then we can really say that Fairies live at the bottom of our garden. Thank you Klaudia the houses are beautiful.

Welcome Back Mindsong

With the recent easing of restrictions we are now able to welcome back local groups and entertainers to visit outside at Hunters. Today it was a huge welcome return for the volunteers of Mindsong, who visit care homes throughout Gloucestershire providing the residents with music therapy and stimulation. In particular we would like to give a big thank you to Mitch who has kept the music group running throughout the pandemic by calling in every week via Skype.

Minibus Drive to Bibury

There was great excitement amongst the residents, with some easing of lock down restrictions we are now able to go out on our mini bus for drives in the beautiful local countryside.  At Hunters we are spoilt for choice, situated in the centre of the Cotswolds, an area of outstanding natural beauty. Today we visited beautiful Bibury, which is so famous it is pictured on the inside cover of the British Passport. Everyone had a lovely time being able to get out and about we are planning where to go next!
