Activities at Hunters Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Ben Sandall

Activities Coordinator

Hello I am Ben and I am the Activities Coordinator at Hunters.  I started working at Hunters as part of the hospitality team, but when a vacancy came up on the activities team I jumped at the opportunity.  I have seen how important a varied activities programme is and the team ensure we offer something for everyone including regular past times.

Nutrition and Hydration Week

Nutrition and Hydration Week is an annual event to understand the importance of nutrition and hydration in a social care setting.  Hunters Chef Leo and his team ensure residents have a balanced diet and the whole team ensure residents have regular drinks.

To make things more interesting the residents were treated to delicious fruit smoothies made from a range of ingredients of their choice. With the spell of hot weather due to end we are making sure that we are making the most of it whilst staying fit and well.

Thanking Hunters Carers

A big thank you to all of the wonderful carers at Hunters. Today we celebrated National Carers week and gave some well-deserved recognition to the dedicated staff team here at Hunters. The care team received a gift, card and certificate just to let them know how important they are. Our Resident Ambassador Bobby was happy to make the presentation and paid tribute to the teams hard work and dedication. Afterwards there was delicious cake prepared by Head Chef Leo and a glass of bubbly to round things off.

Happy Planting

Today we were delighted to finally been able to put some of our seedlings out into our vegetable bed. The stronger growing plants have gone out but will continue to be protected by cloches until they get really established. We all had a great afternoon planting and now we are looking forward to eating the fruits of our labour.

Seeds Update

There is an exciting update on our planting, it has certainly moved on a pace, the seeds that were only planted recently by the residents have done us proud and sprouted we also have to thank our gardener Chrissie for her care and attention. We have radishes, carrots, sweetcorn, runner beans and lettuce to name but a few. We are all now really looking forward to planting them out into our specially prepared garden area next week.

Mindsong Receive Queen's Award

Congratulations to the volunteers from Mindsong; they have been awarded the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Work. The award is very prestigious with only four awarded this year in Gloucestershire.  All we can say at Hunters is it is so well deserved, the volunteers bring happiness and joy to the home every time they visit. The group provide musical stimulation and therapy for the residents here and are to be congratulated on also continuing this virtually throughout lock down.
