Activities at Hunters Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Ben Sandall
Hello I am Ben and I am the Activities Coordinator at Hunters. I started working at Hunters as part of the hospitality team, but when a vacancy came up on the activities team I jumped at the opportunity. I have seen how important a varied activities programme is and the team ensure we offer something for everyone including regular past times.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Hunters Care Home

Valuation Morning
Last week we held a valuation morning at Hunters. A huge thank you to the fantastic Lindsey and Niall from The Cotswold Auction House in Cirencester. First they gave us an insight into the amazing work they do, including a few stories of some of the stranger things brought into their sale room. Then they helped value and give some information on a few of our residents own items. It really was fascinating hearing about the history of some of the precious belongings on show and everyone had a great time.

Walks with Hawks
Another fantastic visit from Clare from Walks with Hawks at Hunters. A real favourite with the residents, Clare gives an incredible chance for them to get up and close with some beautiful birds. Everyone came away smiling and many residents were asking when they would be coming back again!

French Lessons for Hunters' Residents
It was a beautiful sunny afternoon and Hunters’ residents spent it outside enjoying a French lesson from two of our residents Don and Margaret. This lovely couple are fluent retired French teachers and what great teachers they are, it was a fun filled afternoon for all.

Trip to Local Dobbies!
Hunters’ residents took a trip to the local Dobbies garden centre in Cirencester. The residents had a great time looking at all the colourful outdoor plants. There was of course time for a delicious cup of tea and cake before we headed back!

Work Experience Student Runs Art Therapy Classes
Last week we welcomed Annabel who was on her work experience week with Barchester Healthcare. Annabel is a year 10 student at Collegiate School with a real interest in art, she held two art therapy workshops; in the morning on our Memory Lane Community and then with the General Community in the afternoon. Annabel was working with a number of our residents who were former teachers, including a headmistress!
The workshops were very relaxed and as always getting round a table gives everyone the chance to chat. Thank you Annabel for running such enjoyable sessions, we hear there was a request for a return visit!

Elvis is Back in the Hunters' Building
Hunters had the King of Rock & Roll make a return visit to Hunters! The residents were treated to a terrific performance by Elvis with everyone singing along and dancing to some classic songs. Such an enjoyable afternoon for everyone.
